I`ve been in Japan a couple of times. The staff at the restaurants have very good manner, no matter how busy or slow it is. Always so polite, never hurry you to make orders, no eye rolling or screaming (except for their very spirited greetings) The virus hasn't been kind to Japan, but I really hope they preserver and come out stronger.

3:26. I believe you're referring to the Noren (cloth awnings). Those are traditional decorations for many types of Japanese restaurants. In old times, those would be hung outside to signify when the restaurant was open for business and removed when they closed. Today, some restaurants still continue this practice.
