I do not know about new Uebel clarinets but I can tell you that many of the older ones, were made with a very small bore with minimal flair!! You can hear it when he plays!! Small Bore and small tip opening on the mouthpiece = compact small sound....It is quite possible that the new Uebels have been redesigned.....

Thanks for the input. I have a set of Buffets and was just curious to see how this compares to a standard Boehm system instrument. I paid approximately the same price for it and should get it this weekend or next.

Thank you for your video. I have an Arno Wurlitzer B flat probably dating from the 1950 s? Modern Vandoren German system do not fit it protect and living in UK it is impossible to find another mouthpiece. Perhaps you have some ideas. Thank you and God bless you. Bill. Uk

Hmm, that is an interesting one. Do modern French mouthpieces also not fit?

It could have sounded more 'german' had you put a german mouthpiece on it.

As I explained, a German mouthpiece didn't fit. I did later try anothert German clarinet by Schreiber with a propper German mouthpiece and yes, it sounded quite differently. Also the required embouchure was completely different. With that said, there are some modern German clarinet players who play on French-facing mouthpieces.
