After 1988 it felt for many like a heavy load fell off their shoulder, and over time they started to get along with the Germans, they understood that it was a new German generation with different ideas, and today they get along very well, they're both happy to have such a neighbor, and it also shows in the summer; lots of Dutch tourist go on a vacation to Germany, and the Germans visit the Netherlands, they get along really well.

Gullit was the premier player, or best in the world during the late 80s to early 90s. A juggernaut of a player. Can’t tell if he’s a striker or a midfielder because his efficiency is so good that the pitch is somehow smaller for him than the average pro player

When people say Gullit was the most complete footballer ever, they're usually just talking about his skills with the ball. What they don't realize is that Gullit's real superpower was his relentless energy without the ball. He would sprint all over the pitch, closing down opponents, creating space for Van Basten, genuinely being the fucked up person and fucks everythings up. He's the ultimate shithouse artist. There has been no player who possesses such ability. Not Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Matthäus, Baresi, Maldini, Ronaldo, Zidane, CR7, Messi, you name it. Only him. My GOAT. Ruud Gullit.
