Conor can stay humble in victory or defeat, St Pierre can be unimpressed by his own victory, this just shows the mentality to win both in fights and in life.

George is a classy dude. I really wish he could finish fights the way he wants to but we all have to keep in mind, the guys in this weight class are probably the scariest dudes in the business.

I love GSP, his transition from a rear naked choke threat to an armbar was amazing. And in the end of the 4th round, where GSP was on his back and transitioned to a leg lock to half gaurd and side control. That is amazing. People should learn to respect what he can do. It's amazing.

This is why he's so dominant. He's a perfectionist, and constantly critical of his own performance.
@tradefuul
@tradefuul 14 жыл бұрын
the thing about GSP is that he's honest. he"s honest with himself and honest with his fans. this translates into an athlete who is constantly trying to be better. i'm sick of athletes who think they're the best in the world and they talk trash and try to fool people with their words and then deliver lousy performances over and over. the tougher someone talks, the weaker they perform. my gut feeling is that GSP will continue to get better and better because he doesn't try to hide behind BS.

GSP is the Champion, nuff said. Most people forget that this is still a sport, they are athletes. This is not gladiator school. K.O,submission or points is enough to win. You do not have to kill your opponent to win. GSP did all he needed to do to win, DH did not do enough. Respect is part of a true martial artist and GSP shows plenty of it. He is a fighter not a brawler. He is the best at what he does by far.

@Friendlynice So, in his last seven fights, St. Pierre has outlanded opponents 953-348 in total strikes and 711 to 187 in ground strikes. (75% of his landed strikes were from the ground.) Hes hit on 38 of his last 45 takedown attempts (84%).

@Friendlynice the beat (and ground strikes beatdown) goes on for St. Pierre, who outlanded Hardy 130-22 in total strikes, with 118 of those landed strikes coming from the ground. St. Pierre was nine for nine in the takedown department, had eight submission attempts and 16, yes 16 dominant positions. Hardy, DID NOT LAND A SINGLE ARM STRIKE, after landing an average of 30 in his previous four UFC fights.

People sometimes need to realize that a fight cannot always be exciting no matter who's fighting. This is a sport and not professional wrestling such as the WWE or TNA where everything is staged to look good. As long as the people fighting are giving it their utmost to give the fans an interesting fight then I'd shut up and not complain about it. People need to stop pressuring fighters into ending fights even when they can't such as the Silva/Maia fight or this one.

@LadyKiller2006 Yea man, as a GSP fan I enjoyed this fight, because it was one of the most dominant performances ever. Eveyone knows if you want to beat GSP you need takedown defence. It was the same when Matt Hughes was champ but GSP was the guy to stop those takedowns

I think Fitch and GSP should fight on Monday Night Raw.
@EastVan604
@EastVan604 14 жыл бұрын
That's been done. He banged with Fitch and took him standing, then slammed him to he canvas almost at will. and Fitch is a high level explosive wrestler. again Matt Hughes (another amazing wrestler) was dominated in the stand up, and got kicked in the head and dropped. Georges also slammed him to the ground, Judo threw him etc... GSP is just a machine. cyborg prototype.

Even though GSP says he tried to finish Hardy and break his arm if you watch the fight you clearly see GSP snaps Hardys arm back in a vicious manner looking at the reff hoping to get Hardy to tap. GSP could have continued to snap back Hardys arm and he definitely could have broke it, but he chose not to, hoping for Hardy to tap at some point.

@Tonyukmma , Correct the sport is Mixed Martial Arts and I guess you forgot that this includes wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, which Hardy wasn't even close to being in GSP's skill level. Hardy is a hell of a fighter and can knock anyone out in a drop of a hat, but knocking someone out is hard to do from your back. By the way GSP had Hardy in many submission attempts, so it wasn't like he wasn't working after he took Hardy down.

@Celeron525 i dont think wrestling should be banned !! i ment wrestling for decision, so basicly if a fighter using his wrestling to hold down a opponent with very little threat they should be stood up more quickly to keep the action flowing, if they wanna use wrestling fine at least they should be tryin to finish or advance postion every second there on the ground rather then holding and peppering there opponent then trying hour long submissions ! shudnt be banned tho its big part of the fight.

@ChrisL1100 I agree as far as enjoying the fight. I was at the edge of my seat too, I knew Georges was gonna take it to the ground as much as possible, at the same time, one solid hit from Hardy could've knocked GSP down. I thought it was a great fight, I don't know what everyones talking about.

i thought the fight was great....if they want people to stop bitching and moaning about gsp taking guys to the ground, then stop setting him up with strikers...set him up with a dangerous grappler for a change so gsp can showcase his striking...i would love to see a super fight with jake shields in the ufc one day

@DukeOfRadical I know in your heart GSP lost. I am sorry, but no way was Dan Hardy in any real danger let alone lose the fight. The fight was very close I do admit, but Hardy did enough to win by decision. How can anyone deny how excellent Dan Hardy submission defense and his almighty guard. Overall Dan Hardy definitely won that fight.

So that was a weak performance? he put on a fuckin ground clinic. passed Hardy's guard at will, mounted him, almost had the rear naked multiple times, kimura's, arm bars etc... props to Hardy, but that was absolute domination. Hardy looked like one of GSP's grappling students asking for private lessons with Georges.

@meds613 it's hard to say really, his lay n pray is world class. it is well established that he is only capable of finishing light weights so it would have to be someone with either sick takedown defense or submissions. i know people will shit on me for saying it but ive always said nick diaz was a suicide match up for him based on having the best rubber guard in mma. since that will never happen i thinks shields is the next best thing. he has been underrated and gsp has been overrated too long.

Yeah Dan Hardy lost the fight, but he also won alot in that fight! That kid is a warrior! And his heart is HUGE! @LadyKiller2006 ye but if GSP is the 1 controlling Hardy its up to him to finish him or make the fight exciting isnt it ? GSP was scared to stand for more then 30 seconds with hardy that was very dissapointing - GSP = safety first entertain fans last - i dont care what enyone says its not the best to watch hes last 2 fights hes spent 90 percent of the time laying on men
@brickcity487
@brickcity487 14 жыл бұрын
@TeMpOuK1 That's a bullshit argument, as much as St. Pierre was trying to finish, Hardy was likewise trying to defend. And since we can't flip the script and see if Hardy could dominate and finish, we can only compare to what we see.

Dana White is a shithead. Why talk down on the event? It's an event that is all about MIXED MARTIAL ARTS and that's what was shown--not boxing. He should've defended that fact, instead of attempting to make excuses. Although GSP isn't satisfied with his performance, it was brilliant and dominating nonetheless. He's the most dangerous type of fighter: one who thinks. He matches his superior athleticism with strategic intelligence. I don't know how anyone could be disappointed in that.
