When you break it down and look at who poses dangers to who and with what weapons. Aldo hasn't knocked anyone out with his fists since the early days of the WEC and it was a TKO from a flurry of punches. When he was tearing everyone up in the WEC it was all knees to the face while people went in for the takedown that caused the knockouts, and Aldo is the best 'BY FAR' that I have ever seen with those counter knees to the face. BUT, almost all of Aldo's opponents have been under 5'7" (all apart from one I believe), and all have also been either better grapplers than they are strikers or have at least been lesser strikers than Aldo, hence the reason they wanted to take it to the ground and caught a knee to the face. McGregor is predominantly a striker coming from a boxing background. Conor is 2 inches taller than Aldo, has a 3 inch reach advantage over Aldo, his single punch speed is the same if not a bit faster than Aldo. Conor without a doubt has real one punch knockout power in his fists while Aldo doesn't have that same kind of power (even though Aldo does still hit quite hard). It is unheard of that Aldo has fought anyone who had even one of those statistics over him (part from one opponent being taller than him). Conor has the height advantage, reach advantage, equal if not better punch speed and much better punching power. I'd say both men have very solid chins. McGregor is bigger and stronger than Aldo 'but', Aldo is going to be far superior with his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Aldo is very strong and explosive with his grappling (much like a strong wrestler) so I believe Aldo will have quite an advantage on the ground if he can take the fight there. McGregor does train daily with Gunar Nelson who is a super slick and technical submission artist and is a welterweight (though a small one at that). Aldo's leg kicks might also be a factor, but Conor isn't stupid. He is watching tapes and will be conditioning his knees, shins and thighs to take the punishment should any kicks land or be checked, and will also be working on his checking, destroying, countering or evading kicks defense. Another question is also Conor's cardio and stamina. We have seen him in a full 3 round fight and his cardio seemed good then, so we will see what it is like for 5 rounds if it goes that far. I like both fighters, but I must admit that Aldo isn't quite the destroyer he once was even though he is still very good, but Conor brings something new and exciting to the table. The shit talk is just part of his intelligence. He looks at Floyd Mayweather who is the richest man in sports history, worth over half a 'BILLION' dollars, and sees that Floyds boxing style isn't the most exciting to casual fans, but sees Floyd talking loads of shit and running his mouth and so thinks to himself, 'Well I'm going to talk even more shit than Floyd 'and' actually have an exciting fighting style, and that is going to make me rich and famous'. Well, it's worked pretty damn well so far!

When Conor McGregor made the statement ragarding his punching power and finish count in comparision to Jose Aldo you could see the doubt in Jose Aldo's eyes. He already looks like he's unsure of his ability to stand up with Conor. I'm sure that he plans to attack Conor's wrestling and will expend as much effort as possible to get the fight to the ground because he knows that he can't stand with him, He is a less experienced striker and he is at a reach disadvantage couple with the fact that Conor is the more dangerous puncher/finisher.

I am from Brasil and i feel so embarrased for the brazillian crowd... McGregor is at his peak. He fights intelligently and his pace is high. I would not underestimate Aldo's skills though. Conor has a good chance to be the new champ but lets not forget that Aldo defeats some great fighters back to back since WEC.
