Conor gassed out, plain and simple. Became weak on the feet and then ate some shots..we all saw the outcome. Love or hate Conor, he has brought more spot light to the fight game. No reason to kick the man when he's down. Maybe he needed to be humbled, but I'm still a fan. Congrats Diaz.

Something I always liked about the Diaz brothers is their commitment to being athletic. When Conor says "energy" he means cardio, which I love after his asshole comment about "bike rides with the elderly." How does a guy with no camp and less than two weeks notice have more energy than you in the ring? Bike rides aka triathlons.
@jamieandrei
@jamieandrei 8 жыл бұрын
+R Jonas there is an old saying 'cardio is your best submission tool' - he got beat fair & square - I think the 'he used his energy better' is his way to minimise his loss. It's like saving the other race car won because it was faster - that's the game! The better man wins because he is better..

+R Jonas When Conor went up in gaining weight in such a short time I couldn't believe it. I immediately thought fatigue was going to be an issue, him over eating almost guaranteeing it. I knew his muscle glycogen was going to crash and his metabolism was going to jack is ATP levels among other things if he came out of the gate hard. I'd like to see them fight at 155.

True McGregor fans, true MMA fans, knew Conor's day was coming eventually.. None of us wanted to see it happen like this obviously, but it changes nothing. I just watched a featherweight champion, fight a BEAST in Nate Diaz in a WELTERWEIGHT bout.. Were you going to see Aldo do that? Edgar? Urijah? That's why I back Conor McGregor. He took the fight like a man, took the L like a man, & gave Nate his respect.

lets be honest, he fought a 155er and didnt cut weight, if anything conor should of looked better bc he didnt have to cut weight either, its a glimpse of how he fairs outside of 145, thats why there are weight classes. conor is just used to fighting smaller fighters and thought his power would transit to higher weight classes. it didnt. edgar fought at 155 all his life and never made excuses on ppl being bigger than him, he found a way to win. with all respect, conor learned now he cant just go in thinking his left hand can take out everyone, its not 145. if he will go back to 155, he will face ppl more dangerous than nate. most of the 155ers dont rely on power alone, they are technical and stragetic, let alone very well rounded. im actually happy now bc i wanted conor to reign in his weight classes and see how long he can stay on top. it wont be easy for him but it will be interesting.
@LaggingBack
@LaggingBack 8 жыл бұрын
Chaotic Picks And you're an authentic hater.. Always willing to be a contrarian, aren't you? My point was, no other featherweight would've taken a risk like that, there was no need to.. If you can't respect ANY fighter for having that mentality, then you're missing the beauty in the whole thing & I feel for you. Most McGregor fans were probably Diaz fans first, & that's bc both fighters represent the same thing.. A lack of fear & supreme confidence in their abilities.

+Ryan Drehmann I disagree when u say none of wanted to see it happen like this, I think it should've happened like this. Conors ego put him in this position and he needed this reality check. Lets not forget Conors natural division is the lightweight and so is Nates so tbh i feel that we finally saw what happens when Conor fights some1 of his own size, instead of the smaller 145'ers.

the cardio in meisha and holly was unreal, i thought they would of been gassed in the 5th but they were both still really strong. Conor gassed in the first.

It's as if Conor only ever had great cardio at featherweight. He used to go three rounds easily watch his fight with Max and others. His body changed when he moved up, and his work ethic also faltered, as soon as he really got famous. Shame

@@ceedub3966 I agree, he couldn't deal with the extra weight and the size of his opponents. And now he seems to think he needs to add more weight. He should have really been trying to get back down to FW.

+XBLonTwitch Not only Irish people respect and like Conor McGregor and he is still the champ who, for the first time in UFC history went straight up two weight classes and put up a decent fight. People like you just like hating on peoples success online because you're an unsuccessful insecure loser.

Diego Lira Ripa Fair enough you are entitled to your opinion, but consider this. He fought someone two weight classes above him who cat to cut to make the weight for one. Imagine that's like GSP fighting Rashad or Rampage Jackson... Or Anderson Silva fighting Brock Lesnar... Only two weight classes between them but a tremendous difference in size and strength especially when you're not used to fighting anyone close to that before in the worlds most elite and competitive fighting organization.
@MultipleChoice162

***** He was selling the fight and does a good job of it hence one of, if not the the most, highly paid fighter which the skinny mexican who can't string two sentences together 2 weight classes above him knew. Agreed it was a bad idea to accept but as i said he put up a good entertaining fight considering which is testament to his mental strength.

Nate should've shut him up for making them excuses. A simple "what weight did you train at" would've clamped that mouth shut about the weight excuse. "So you trained for the majority of 3 months at 170 and I trained for 11 days at 170, okay thanks that's all I needed to know."

He was so impressed that Nate could take bombs to the face, but had he researched either of the Diaz bros he would've know that knocking them out is a VERY big long shot. Then he would've been more "efficient" with his energy

Is everyone forgetting that it was Conor who suggested the idea to fight at 170? Days leading up to the fight, Nate was hovering around 165-166 and Conor said to cap it at 170. Yeah Conor had to move up 2 weight division but Nate came into this fight more disadvantaged than Conor. He had less than 2 weeks to prepare physically and mentally and apparently he was struck with a serious illness days before receiving the call to fight. Respect to both fighters tho. Best fight I've seen in a while

I’m new to mma, so once he went up a weight class that’s when he started losing? I could definitely see that the shots weren’t rocking Nate, but also throughout his other fights he’s not good on defense when there’s wrestling involved. Would be interesting to see him drop back down to a lighter division

Conor has no endurance. He was relying on using all his energy on precise and hard fast punches early on. After that didn't work, he had no backup plan. It was quite a risk to take.

Mcgregor is a classy dude. He may be extremely cocky before fights but that is the way it should be. However when he wins fights he doesn't beat the person while they are down just like this fight. He showed an immense amount of respect and admiration towards Diaz. He is a good man and earned my respect.
