On June 1st in New Jersey, the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will defend his title against the former interim champion and future hall of famer Dustin Poirier. An absolute banger of a title fight! In the co main event is a five round fight between two fan favorites, former middleweight champion Sean Strickland and top contender Paulo Costa. As a huge Makhachev fan, its MMA, anyone can win or lose on a given night. Porrier can catch him with a cross, Makhachev can win via submission or one of a thousand other outcomes can occur. While those favoring Makhachev have the more likelihood of happening, nothing is a certainty.

when Islam and Dustin enter the cage, it is literally 50/50, not in term of skills or stastistics, or odds, bit in the present moment of the fight, anything can happen, dustin wins, islam wins, a draw or a no contest.

Dustin needs to work on his wrestling, or at least get out of a wrestling situation. I like Dustin and Islam. I don't know who to support. But win or lose I want them to fight with ethics and honour. As a huge Islam fan, I'm a bit worried about this match, but hopefully Islam will prepare well for this Fight. Because as we know, for Dustin this fight is : !. The last chance for him to fight for the title because one of the obstacles is the age of 35 years. 2. This fight is a life-or-death fight for Dustin, whether he will end his dream or career history here or will achieve his dream and create a new story in his career history. 3. It is certain that Dustin will prepare very well for this match, Dustin would rather go to sleep or broke his arm than have to Tap because of gave up. 4. Dustin will go all out in this match, because for him, it's “Now or never”. 5. And of course one thing we can never deny is Fate or luck, everything happens sometimes beyond our expectations as humans, because the fate of every human being goes according to the will of the creator.

never bet against a dagestani, haha, but also never bet against dustin sean will have to depend greatly on his defense the first round (like he did with Abus) or set the pace in the first round, after that he should be good, the first round is so important, izzy and ddp definitely prepared him for costa, sean will likely drown him, it could be a masterclass, the worst thing that could happen is sean decides to get into a slugfest with him but he has so much composure these days that I doubt he does that, he didn't fall for izzy and ddp's opossum tricks I think costa will get tired enough to get knocked down by a combo and sean will go for a sub to end it because sean wants to make a statement and not leave it to judges fun fact, in the same time costa's won 2 fights, sean's won 8 fights with 2 fights he lost merely on optics, and sean won these after crashing his motorcycle into a van, but costa did have whittacker dead to rights in that first round..

Dustin can KO opponents.. but his victims are fighters willing to stand in front of him and oblige in balls to the wall firefight. Islam is not that type and probably the most defensively sound & strategic fighter amongst everyone Dustin has faced so far. He will have opportunities to sleep Islam but it won't be remotely as often as he's been given before. Islam & Dustin fight marathons up at UFC youtube shows the vast difference in their styles. Whose style will prevail and who can make the necessary adjustments to nullify the weapon of the other that's the challenge here. Islam has a knack for making his opponents modify their natural fighting approach and he does it thru subtle well implemented strategy. If Dustin's able to retain his normal phase and rhythm, that's going to be a favorable sign for him. His jabbing performance is going to be a good indicator if Islam's strategy is working effectively.
