Your P52 videos are great. Too many others 'talk' too much and leave out the important details. You seem to be spot on every time. I followed your heatsink video a couple days again (added a new one since one of my fans kept making noise and some PTM7950, and removed all the 'mesh'....it runs so much cooler now) also added 128 GB of Viper Steel PC3200 SODIMMs and previously upgraded the WLAN nic and added 2x2TB NVMe. Very happy with this machine. I bought it a few years ago for 1/2 price from a video editting shop that was getting rid of all their laptops since employees kept stealing them. Still had 2 years of warranty.

thank you for your sharing. I'm going to upgrade my P52 following your tutorial. Can you tell me which brand of RAM do you use? For me it looks quite difficult find a ECC supported RAM for Xeon2716.

Nice instruction. My factory ram is 2x16gb dims on the front side. I just bought a 2X32gb. I think I would need to open the front side as well to relocate front rams to arrange them into dual channels. Right?

Answer to myself. The factory installed 2x16gb already for the hard to reach slots under keyboard labeled for slots 2 & 4. I can theoretically install the 2x32gb in the easy to access slots 1&3. It would just be dual channel configuration this way. I don’t need to remove keyboard. I can’t wait to get the new rams.

Regarding your question, yes you are absolutely correct you don't need to remove the front, just note you already have a dual channel memory with your 2x 16gb, once you place the other two then you will have a quad channel, just a reminder dual channel is a bit faster than quad, but if you looking to get more ram storage for editing videos or big project, then sure go a head.
