As for this league, I hope if the people say the Sea Dragons will be back if we watch this league on TV are right, the UFL pays for the lease they are walking out on. No night games, so we can bring all tge traffic mitigation options to bear. There were no SOUNDER trains serving the 2023 season, because the games were scheduled too late in the day.

Anyone who did a little research knows why Seattle was dumped for at least a year. They had big attendance issues last season and was easily the farthest team from any other equally high traveling costs.

In case people were wondering The X in XFL stands for Xtreme when Vince Mcmann started the first xfl ever he said the nfl wasn’t as tough as it used to be to be so he named it the Xtreme Football league I thought everyone pretty much knew that but I guess this guy didn’t 😂

I understand everything you’re saying but it takes money to make money Business is about risk the 16 teams could’ve been very profitable as well with the taxes involved , i look at the xfl well ufl as the G league to the nfl it’s players all over the world chasing that same dream every team would have more than enough players coaches as well the Rock himself would have to pull strings for the staff and gives new teams a budget plus whatever profits they make for games to take care of themselves until he can give more he can do this by using social media and marketing we live in a digital era I’m sure Dwayne Johnson can handle 16 teams

@@Ree4dakill_60 see the whole you have to spend money make money situation works differently when you're talking about a sports league...these owners are trying to get investors in to reimburse that money that was lost.....I understand thats the rock but he doesn't have as much power and control than you think he does compared to Fox and Redbird...they agreed on the budget and anything else will make the league a 1 and done deal...they want to keep this league running and viable so it can make money on its own not just keep shelling out money where they potentially have to file bankruptcy

@@Ree4dakill_60 you can't rush out with 16 teams when this league is trying to get off it's feet...when you look at the NFL and AFL before they merged it took them 10 years to build enough capital to expand into other markets and then merge.. Everytime can't be rushed

This guy must be terrible in math because 3 of 8 teams are located in Texas does not mean half of the teams are in Texas. BTW, there is going to be expansion in the upcoming years, which why the other 8 teams are on hiatus. Travel costs is why they dumped the Seattle SeaDragons(for now) because of travel issues being the only west coast team.

How are you gonna say XFL is a better name when you dont even know what the X stand for? (nothing btw, the X stands for absolutely nothing) Also Seattle was a money pit. Expensive stadium and the Dragons players hated the travel times. It was smart to ditch that market, at least for now. Finally, the advantage of merging was not for more teams, the advantages are consolidating talent, fans, and capital.

UFL sounds like soccer? It’s one letter different than the NFL. The XFL was about to fail for the third time. It’s not a “tested” name. As long as they held ties with professional wrestling in the minds of most people they were never going to be taken seriously. 😂

2020 version was the best…HANDS DOWN! Not only did they get rid of the Sea Dragons… But they changed their name from “The Dragons” to The “SEA Dragons!” “Dragons” sounded bad ass!..”SEA Dragons” sounds wimpy… Not to mention, it’s too similar to SEAhawks. By sounding like Seahawks, it also took away The Dragons own identity and originality… Now it’s just another “SEA” team

The XFL lives on. It's a 50-50 ownership. Half the league is owned By the Rock & partners, the XFL conference. The USFL conference is owned by Fox Sports.

Way to go into it with some positivity. Gotta give it a chance these first couple of weeks have been pretty exciting, to be honest. If you're trying to compare it to the NFL you’ll never enjoy it. Look at it for what it is, new spring football that's been pretty competitive so far. Some of these players will get noticed here and make an NFL roster who wouldn't have otherwise so it's good for the NFL too.

Expansion to 12 teams in 25, to 16 teams in 26, is planned. Sale of franchises to independent owners is also planned in 25, much like the NFL structure, meaning much more $ and higher player salaries. Your Dragons will very likely be back in 25. UFL will probably survive, fan base is already appearing larger than both of the previous leagues. The NFL is still involved as it was with the XFL, but its involvement is expected to grow. This league is planned to grow and has supporters in cities bidding for a team and many individuals trying to buy in. It likely won’t fail.

Less teams = more financial stability. MLR has done this to keep their league stable. Many young leagues do this. The NFL did it 100 years ago

Wow - Verifiably incorrect 😅 The NFL has only expanded - never shrunk. The only times the NFL “shrunk” was briefly overnight when the Indianapolis Colts disbanded in 1952 - but that same offseason the Baltimore Colts were formed. So that doesn’t really count. It was just a loophole to move the team to Baltimore.

Face it - UFL won’t be here next year and it’s their own fault. They had an opportunity to join the NFL as a minor league and declined. So the NFL is probably just going to wait until they go bankrupt next year - then they’ll create their own Spring League with NFL money behind it, and nobody else will even bother trying to compete with the NFL because they’d just get crushed.

I'll be honest - I was kind of joking with that line, because I've actually looked this up in the past. It turns out that the X doesn't stand for anything. One of the sites teased that since the NFL is the "No Fun League" The XFL would be the "Extra Fun League"...but in actuality, XFL is just a cool name. I’m happy St Louis has a football team! I felt for them when they lost the Rams a few years back. 😢 I know the Rams were in LA first…but they built a fan base in St. Louis just to rip it away from them a couple decades later.

Yeah, XFL is a sweet name. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure this season wasn’t a big enough boom. My theory - it dies this offseason. Two years from now the NFL launches a spring league with actual money behind it, and as a way to develop players. The spring leagues have been great for finding gems for the NFL…they just haven’t had enough money behind them to garner enough interest to survive. They’ll either need NFL or ESPN money to make it work.

What it’s called is pretty close irrelevant. They probably didn’t go with a full list of all the teams because of initial costs. Give them a chance! If you love the game, I can’t think of anything better than giving players a second chance for the opportunity to show what they can do. Make a little money to try and follow their dream.

Comments are disagreeing but Dwayne did ruin it, y’all probably didn’t watch the XFL season in 2020 they were actually doing great but the pandemic ruined it. Then Dwayne takes over which killed the marketing because he’s promoting his movies and merchandise before promoting the XFL. So many people didn’t even know about the 2023 season because of that. This name change did not help at all

Solid points. I actually was watching in 2020 up until the pandemic! I felt for the XFL investors because it finally felt like there was some momentum building for a professional spring football league…and then that dreadful coronavirus happened. I watched XFL last year, and was excited about the Seattle SeaDragons (being a lifelong Seattle sports fan), but I have to admit, as the season went on it just became less and less fun. I was more interested in regular season Major League Baseball than postseason XFL. I was willing to give XFL another shot before they took away our team here in Seattle. UFL is wrapping up Week 2 and I think it’s already losing interest from a lot of fans (maybe not the ones in this comment section). I’m just not confident that the league will survive beyond this season. I’m hoping they can finish the season before going bankrupt.

Based on several articles it looks like they performed similarly. USFL brought in slightly more in viewership, but the USFL is also a year older than the XFL (Not including the lone 2001 XFL Season). Merging just to cut half the teams is not a promising sign. Co-Owner Dwayne Johnson also came off a little nervous about the future of the league when McAfee was trying to hype him up over it on College Game Day. Planning to make a SHORT describing how the UFL can survive beyond 2024…but I’m not optimistic. Also, they got rid of Seattle’s team…so F ‘em 😅
