As University of the Free State Rector Professor Jonathan Jansen steps down, racial tensions remain high on the main campus in Bloemfontein. This comes despite ongoing efforts to eliminate racism. Jansen took over the reigns in 2009 about a year after the infamous Reitz video. The video was made by four white students from the Reitz male residence in protest against racial integration.
It shows five black university employees being forced to eat food which had been urinated on.
