Let's face it: this was not my favourite walk in Berlin Mitte! Although the rain stopped, it was just cold and uncomfortable and that during the summer. Even the touristic highlights are only half effective on a cloudy day.
Now to the route of the walking tour: We start at the famous Checkpoint Charlie with the photos of the young soldiers. Unfortunately, around this historic place there are only classic fast food restaurants. So let's move on along Friedrichstraße. The shops are closed (as it is Sunday) and the beautiful Gendarmenmarkt is hidden by huge construction works on the buildings and on the square. I was expecting something different, but it's also good to see that Germany's capital has its bad days too ... don't get me wrong, it's still very interesting to watch because it shows a different face of Berlin.
