I just found a neglected one in someone's trash pick-up pile. I enjoy giving new life to neglected plants, and ALL my houseplants are orphans that I have researched and afforded new life to. They react like rescue pets in that they seem to have an appreciation and a vigor for another life.

Thanks! I’m in zone 7, so I might try planting a piece outside and mulching it well to overwinter it.

How long do they have to be in the water before they start growing roots? I tried this once and the plants just rotted. Not sure what I did wrong.

i know this may be late but hopefully this is helpfull. ive had my umbrella palm in my aquascape for about a week now and sometime within the past few days it has alreadys began growing roots. water sits just above the roots and temp is about 78 degrees F (28C) and my lighting system provides a 12 hour photo period.
