Simon Harris, the prime minister of Ireland, has said that the "British-Irish relationship is really strong" and the two countries now have a "real opportunity" to "press reset".
He said: "Politics aside... at the end of the day, we're neighbours, we're friends - in many cases we're family as well.
"And there's an opportunity now - a real opportunity - that we must cease, and the next generation will never forgive us for if we don't, to press reset."

It was a 3.25 billion loan, and it has been repaid with interest of at least 610 million (not favourable rates for Ireland, so very lucrative for the UK). The final repayment was made over three years ago.
