I love catching the pipers on the Chanters as I think it sometimes brings out something you can miss from outside the circle.
Pipe Major Alen Tully shows how it is done and displays his characteristic feel for the music here. Many thanks to Pipe Major Tully for coming over for a few words afterwards - hopefully the video is exactly what I said it would be!

They know their tunes COLD to be able to start anywhere in the tune instantly !!

It's like flicking a switch on a recording. Very impressive and I never feel like the video can convey the real feel of the music. I like watching the chanter practice as it gives you some insight into the way the Pipe Major is approaching the music - and there isn't anyone out there with more feel for the music than Alen Tully....
