Did nobody else notice Romero was doing 46mph in a 40 zone. That's 46mph by the GPS. Which means the speedo in the car was probably sitting at 50mph.

Romero, if someone pulls out in front of you, if you brake before you put your full beams on, you might be able to slow down in time so you don't have to mount the footpath in avoidance

It looks like he never touched the other car (Audi?), which means he could well have just driven off laughing. Meanwhile Romero discovers that all things considered, accidents, especially 'single vehicle collisions', are best avoided.

No. He didn't appear to slow down, but the apparent speed up is a wide angle lens effect (the opposite of telephoto compression). As you get closer to an object the 'extension effect' unwinds and even if you are holding a constant speed it will appear you are speeding up (see also the majority of 'he accelerated into a roundabout' clips).

Lots of countries such as America tell us they have no idea how to use a roundabout. But it seems a lot of the British population dont either. How can you literally not have the basic functions to see a car coming from the right and wait. How that driver didnt see the biker in the last one is beyond me. Life time ban IMO.

There is no give way to the right rule on roundabouts. You have to give way to traffic already on the roundabout, hence the give way marking all around, regardless from which direction. And in this case indeed, the cammer was on the roundabout first, and hence the red car had to give way.

@@Palerider1942 Yes but many people misread this when mini roundabouts are concerned. When you approach a mini roundabout and there's nobody on it, you have priority to enter. Many people say "I came from the right so I have priority" and blast through a mini roundabout. If there's a car on their left closer to the roundabout, that car has priority to enter the roundabout because nobody's on it yet. Doesn't matter if some distance a way a car is approaching from their right. The "right" in the roundabout sense is traffic ON the roundabout, not traffic nearing the roundabout from the right.

@lalita patpong So that means he shouldn't have tried to avoid an accident then? Does it justify speeding in a built up area as well? 'Right of way' arrogance is becoming a huge danger on the roads and it needs to be addressed. Rather than have a near miss, which could have been a lot worse, had there had been cars to the left or pedestrians on the pavement, Romero could've eased off or braked, and it would've cost him 20, 30 seconds at most.

Well he definitely knew he wasn’t going to stop as he kept looking and looking then realised that he isn’t stoping so tried accelerating. It could have been a lot worse if he didn’t accelerate. Also if people start saying “well he could have braked”. No he couldn’t have as he was going round a corner and he would have slid most likely under the car. It’s not Marks fault but he must have encountered people like that before that don’t stop. Hope yr ok Mark H.

@@gavincolgan1827 he was adjacent to a bus lane, so maybe doesn’t have the know how in the city he’s driving in or avoids it because he’ll end up penalised... can’t make it out clearly enough how much indication/notice he gave but the turn was pretty narrow in respectiveness to the size of the van turning. 100% mopeds fault undertaking at speed in built up traffic.

ADMB PLASTERING - quick tip, when YOUR OWN NAME is on the side of the company vehicle, best not to drive like a tit, speeding, intimidating and being aggressive to other road users. Being late for a job isn't a valid excuse for driving like a tit. Also, Callum B & Romero, I've seen corpses with better reaction times!

I was thinking once someone has a dashcam and has right of way they stick to it regardless of crashing just so they have it stored on video. Look at the clip here 05:28 see how it could have been avoided but kept going.

One thing I would say, as a dashcam owner myself, is things are closer in real life than they appear on camera. I'm not defending anyone, but there certainly is a difference.

@@tyastridge1576 that's correct the camera does distort the image somewhat and things do look closer in real life, but what the camera can't do is distort time take the Callum B clip for example from the moment the clip starts the van is making the turn and its a good 2-3 seconds before Callum B hits it that's plenty of time to throw out the anchors.

47mph at the start of the clip (and they chose to slim tge vid down to start there like 47 is acceptable!) and he was dropping speed (albeit too slowly) so must have been over 50mph. Could easily have killed someone.

That's what I was thinking. Hard to know if that crash was avoidable but if the cammer had used the proper road position and set off at a normal rate they might have seen the rogue car and stopped.

To everyone commenting on Callum B and me just commenting on this clip of his - I don't agree that he necessarily had sufficient time to brake without hitting the van. There's 3s between seeing the van start to turn with no indicator on and Callum hitting the van (12:41.33 to 2.41.36). Highway code says total stopping distance at 30mph is 23m, of which 9m is thinking distance and 14m is braking distance. Time taken to travel 9m at 30mph is 9m / ((1,609.344m x 30mph)/3600s) = 0.67s. Average speed from 30mph to 0mph is 15mph. Time = dist/speed. Braking time = 23m / ((1,609.344m x 15mph)/3600s) Time = 3.42s So Highway Code says time taken to stop at 30mph is 0.67s + 3.42s = 4.1s More than the 3s in the clip. There are arguments that with braking systems being much improved, the stopping distance should be decreased. BUT according to ‘Brake’ the road safety charity, drivers thinking time has been vastly underestimated. ‘Brake’ have attained figures from Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) that indicates that the average thinking time is 1.5 seconds which is more than double the 0.67 seconds set out in the highway code. This would add another 11m onto the total stopping distance.

7:34 There are three persons to be censured in this clip. Most egregious is the reckless speeding moped rider. Although I don't wish them harm it's appropriate that they were the worst affected. If it hadn't been that van, that day, they'd have hit something else sooner or later, quite possibly a pedestrian. The van turned left from a right-hand lane which is bad in itself, even worse to do it without hesitation in a vehicle with only a mirror for checking the nearside. Third is cammer Sasha R who drove on by without offering their video evidence.

To be fair to the van, it does look like quite a tight entrance to get into, so maybe a wide turn was needed. For the bike on the other hand, they were riding through a bus lane and then continuing straight in a left turn lane

It's fascinating how many drivers reach for the horn before they even consider braking. Or in that case of the woman yakking on about her failure to lose weight and then gets so busy wondering about the direction the Mini is going, that she doesn't much bother about trying to avoid the collision.
