50,000 passenger rides taking an hour a pop on average (man maths: 45 minute drive there, 15 minute drive) is 50k hours. At 40 working hours a week doing this full time that's 25 years to get them all done!

@@stephenteerling7373 Couldn't you just hold various local events at closed circuits and do some laps and stuff? That would be cool! Book it as a free live podcast so you can control the time on track and the demand. I think it's doable. The depreciation miles on the 918 might be the only unavoidable part ha!

Sam, I enjoy watching your episodes every week. I need to pick you up on Tony’s reference to the earthquake though, which was in extremely bad taste. Lives ruined. Imagine being trapped under tonnes of rubble in the freezing cold for days wondering if this is how you’re going to die, with no idea about whether your family is trapped too. Might be worth acknowledging this in your next episode and considering a contribution to the relief fund 👍🏼

Great episode and I appreciate the idea of a “dad” episode. The Baby Jogger pushchair was a game changer for me. Folds so small you can take it onboard an airplane and it’s cheaper and more robust than the alternatives. An episode on practical cars with some driving engagement would be awesome. Keep up the good work!

Your comments about starting a new youtube channel are well made. I am a bit of a writer, have written stuff all my life. English is my thing. I have sort of on the quiet, written four books and they have done quite well. The amount of people I meet who don't know about my books (why should they?) and then say 'one day I'm going to write a book' is immense. But they then ask how to do it and seem to be lost when I tell them about the hard graft and work required to do it, not to mention writing skills and even having an idea about a story or a creative thought. A few weeks back we had a couple of friends drop by on spec. They didn't know anything about my writing. She then out of the blue said she's going to write a book. I smiled and asked her about the subject matter and she sort of didn't have an answer. At which point I reached down to the coffee table and pulled out a copy of my latest book. They were both totally shocked that there was a book with my name on it. However, moving on, as Sam would say, I am not starting a new and fun youtube channel about cycling, which is another hobby/passion of mine.

Vauxhall Corsa 5 door with a baby. It’s definitely a struggle. Have to take the pram wheels off to be able to get the pram into the boot. Baby bags then have to go on top of the pram with the parcel shelf detached. Hardly any space in the front passenger seat because the isofix car seat is so big. If we go shopping the bags have to go on the spare rear seat. When we go on holiday we have to get a taxi/chauffeur because a suit case won’t fit. It’s a pain but you just have to adapt

Hi Sam, when i had my first daughter, i wanted a carriage that fit the trunk of my 500. It took a while, but i found one small enough when i remove the rear wheels and fold the tub! The seat fits in the back on an isofix base, making the passenger seat useless, or in the front.

We downsized to one car a few months ago (sold my m235) and are left with an A3...I literally just bought an uppababy cruz pram yesterday for our soon to be newborn (expected in 2 months). The box for the stroller took up most of the boot space but there is still enough space for a baby bag and maybe one other small bag. With the capsule in the back seat there isn't a ton of space left over. I have come to the conclusion that the baby industry and automotive industry are in cahoots making us need bigger cars to comfortably fit everything in.

Tony you are bang on! Standards are shocking, I'd argue that partly is it due to lack of deterent? Cameras only pick up speed, nothing else is considered. The motorways are depressing and frustrating, I am lucky in that I live 20 min from the ferry to escape. But also have you noticed another standard that's dropped in towns etc of people cutting the corners into junctions blind or otherwise, seen it so many times, and yes a lot are plastic suvs... I mean I see it as they clearly aren't car people as they bought (insert jacked up faceless box) and have no interest in driving.. or pride. You notice it more when you travel in Europe more. Coming back here I totally share your annoyance!! 👏👏 and yes let's not dwell on Leicester!

Yesterday I picked up my first Porsche, a brand new Macan T. I was thinking about getting the Macan S at first, but went for a "higher-spec" T instead of a "lower-spec" S since I really wanted the pan-roof, adaptive air suspension and leather interior. The engine in the S is great, way better than the 4cyl EA888 in the T, but it's a lot thirstier. Also, the insurance on the S was more than three times more expensive than the T. My advice is to drive both of them, see which one you like best, think of all the pros-and cons with them both. I think you're either way going to be really happy with it.

Part of the problem with lane hoggers is what they think the lanes are called: slow lane, middle lane and fast lane. People who don’t want to go ‘slow’ or ‘fast’ sit in the middle. Calling them what they actually should be called: inside or driving lane, middle lane and outside lane might help. That and a massive on-the-spot fine…

Sam, Agency will effect you (a lot), as you will no longer be able to negotiate a price to base the lease on. You will be paying full RRP. The option subscription is a nightmare....if all the options are on the car surely someone will find a way to overcome this (electronically). don't think you will be able to switch on a carbon pack, or different wheels or a sunroof though!! Note to Tony....if a car has been leased for 3 years, and then sells the car to Tony, does this mean that half the options will no longer exist as the subs would have ceased.....so what actual spec will you be buying into stock??

Halleluiah!!!! Finally you amazing chaps have finally touched on the shit standards of driving, and as someone who lives just North of Nottingham, the M1 is without doubt the worst Motorway over 4 lanes. Outside lane, when NOT over taking. I have either undertaken or when I have managed to overtake someone who is in the middle two lanes, I have made a point of going from the right hand side of the motorway, to the inside lane. Do they move? The minority do, but others (mainly on their phones NOT hands free) don't give a monkeys. Also, thanks for bringing up lorry drivers on a dual carriageway (Mainly the A42/ M42). Drives everyone insane. Most of the time the lorries are also being driven mad by other drivers who are driving slower than 56 mph, so the lorry drivers have no choice but to overtake. Love the channel guys.

My biggest bugbear is that HGVs and Coaches are allowed in lane 3 and 4 lane motorways. Surely lanes 1 and 2 should be enough for them. I generally undertake more cars than I overtake on busy motorways nowadays, not recklessly just by maintaining my speed in an inner lane as those in the outer lane brake, then when I catch up a car in front of me I pull out into an outer lane. It's amazing how much ground you can make up. Do you not think cruise control is also a factor?

With regards to lorry drivers. Wish we had the same rules as Germany or Europe for that. As in no lorry overtaking between certain times.

The worst ones that are grinding my gears are the people in things Dacia Dusters, Vauxhall Mokkas who think they're driving Range Rovers, but the number one has got to be white MG SUV's!

Sam would be happy if you brought the 918 over to beautiful New Zealand 🇳🇿 once I’m back there from current uk trip. Amazing roads to blast down as you know. Tony is right the driving standards in the UK on the SRN is terrible (Strategic Road Network). I’m in UK at present working for National Highways 😏that’s me signing off now.

Also lack of enforcement doesn't help, government thinking that a camera replaces a patrol. Zero deterent with a selfish attitude gets you these standards. Again lack of funds and staff aside a retesting programme would improve things no end.. right now pass at 17 and off you go, forever! Would you board a plane with those kind of things 🤷‍♂️

Agree on young ones car seats. They trash the front seat in cars smaller than a Touareg. As they get a bit older it gets better but the rear facing sub 6 months seats are space hungry monsters!!!
