UK Railway FAST trains at SPEED on (UK) Britain's West Coast, East Coast, High-Speed One and Chiltern Mainlines in 2022 / 2023. 🇬🇧
Featuring a variety of trains at speed highlights on Britain's railway mainlines filmed in various locations from October 2021 to September 2022. Most trains were observed to be roughly travelling in excess of 75MPH and in most cases 110MPH and even as high as 186MPH, the maximum FULL speed of high-speed routes!
It's back again! Covering 4 UK Mainlines, Trains at Speed is a fast-action video with over 130 individual clips with an average speed of 125MPH! Some of my regular viewers may also see some upcoming content amongst the short clips!

A solo locomotive moving at speed always seems rather strange, and faintly alarming. It judders about from side to side more rapidly without the dampening effect of a heavy load being hauled behind, and betrays an impression that it might be considering taking leave of the track. And there's something incomplete and ill-proportioned about an engine without its rake of coaches, like a peacock without its long tail feathers.

Even the rake of mk3s and dvt doesn't stop the chiltern 68s from seriously wobbling about. Although it's unfailingly impressive at the same time.

they are designed to do that they most likely wont fall of the reack because they are not going to go over 200 and then fall of the track

I absolutely love the sound of 373s going past 15:37, 16:10, 17:21, 18:19, 20:27, 21:22, 21:47 and 23:05. And it being my favourite train, i like it!

I suppose it's one of the advantages of British railroads that they can go so fast on curves! And I am very happy to see that some trains are using Japanese-made cars. Great video👍

I suppose advantage is one way to explain it! If we never had the curves in the first place, the entire network would be a lot faster. Hitachi trains are now common on the UK Rail network but there are sadly less of our own UK designed trains. Thanks for watching! 😃

Much appreciated Inky Squid! I wish I could just make these video for you but they are the result of months of filming, video selection and editing. The speed tab is 95% accurate, using me as the reference point, I worked out the speed based on the time from the front to the rear using the video frames and the length of the train. Its a time consuming process but I think the effect is worth it!

I love seeing fast trains! I'm super shocked when I see Avanti West coast trains going SO FAST in sharp curves (2:00) because in Spain (I'm spanish) we have high speed lines and I'm not used it see a train faster than 60 km/h in a mainline in a sharp curve. Absolutely amazing!

Thanks Pigur, I was certainly lucky to catch that! I think I knew that they were coming (from what I remember, the distant headlight caught my eye at 05:40) but I had no idea that a crossover like this was about to happen. I'm usually aware of 95% of what I record but some of it is luck/skill that I face the right way for the one that passes me first. Even simpler than that! After I’ve captured my footage. I use the formula of Speed = Distance divided by Time. I know the time by looking at the number of frames which have passed from the start of the train to the end. I know the length because most trains are a standard length and Wikipedia will show most of them. All that needs to be done is to plug in the numbers. I then verified my findings by enduring that the value was with the trains top speed / track speed and voila! Hope this helps, have a great day 😃👍🏻

I actually caught it several times so I guess you could say I'm lucky! The 373s are not as rare as they seem, at least a quarter of all Eurostars are 373s and apprently, theyre the most reliable of the fleet.

May be just me transitioning from watching videos of the Keisei Skyliner in Japan but I find it really interesting how conventional box-shape rolling stock (350 class as an example) are able to hit 110mph//180kmh

So I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with 3W90 (daytime) since I’ve been trying catch it at Tulse Hill where it’s supposed to reverse twice but it doesn’t seem to run reliably often skipping all of the Sutton loop. Any ideas why this is? Thanks for your assistance :)

@@StarlifeStudios yep very simple. Mon 17th no RHTT set available Tues 18th no RHTT set available Weds 19th jetter issues circuit cut short Thurs 20th set failed Fri 21st set failed again so new set was put on but may have missed parts of circuit. Hope that helps. It's been a manic start this year.

Hi Andy, prior to May 2022, Southern operated an hourly service to Milton Keynes from Croydon but this has now ceased. The 377 you saw was operating a weekend service to Milton Keynes. You can watch the full video at Berkhamsted here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otCBjdGGpp-soH0.html
