Amid the ongoing rift between King Charles and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex reportedly declined his father's offer for lodging at a royal residence during his visit to London and he preferred to stay in a hotel. The decision was taken when everyone was speculating for his meeting with the King and Kate as both are undergoing treatment following their cancer diagnosis. However, Prince Harry dismissed the invitation from his father "due to security concerns". Harry spent three nights in London without meeting any of the royal family members, Harry's spokesman stated unequivocally that the Duke wanted to meet the king, but his father was "too busy" to see him.

When Harry comes into the country in a private capacity, he is not entitled to armed guards; other types of security, yes. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie pay for their own security and would find the idea that they needed armed guards ridiculous. If Harry had accepted his father's offer to stay at St. James, it would probably have been much easier for them to meet up. Do you really think it reasonable for the Monarch to run after his middle aged son, especially when his offer of accomodation was churlishly rejected?
