UK welcomes 2022 with fireworks in London, and muted celebrations nationwide

2 жыл бұрынA spectacular display in London has helped the UK usher in 2022, with people turning out to watch despite being encouraged to stay at home and enjoy the show on television.
Details of the location of the spectacle, which involved a light show, drones and fireworks, were not revealed in advance amid the continuing spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Big Ben helped ring in the New Year for the first time since 2017 after a restoration.

I steered a path through New Year's Eve watching or having on only films: Jumanji,Hook,The Great Escape,Night at the Museum,Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom and finally ITV was showing Spectre,the only James Bond film before the newest one that I hadn't seen yet. Drank a lot of wine but it was a quieter New Year's Eve than usual because of the ongoing situation. HoweverI'm quietly optomistic that next year's one will be a return to full-on festivities. Our country,make that our world,needs it after all that doom and gloom. Now got the New Year's Day concert from Vienna on BBC2 on.

It's 2022! I cracked the fizz, poured a glass and toasted the NY! I watched the celebrations around the world on KZfaq alone, out of my window I watched the odd residents display of fireworks. Hard to imagine sitting here in an artic freeze which grips western Canada at the moment that in 2019 I stood close to Manchester Cathedral UK and celebrated the arrival of 2020 to the music of "Into the Unknown!" The irony as 2020 and 2021 unfolded as they did, they were certainly into the "Unknown!" I wish to the world better times for all in 2022!

At least they made an effort for yous back at home.:)Here in Germany they had no firework display and shops wasnt allowed to sell any. So people had to make do with last years left overs. And wasnt allowed to party in groups... So chin up Britain it could be worse...:)& Happy new year to all :)

Wembly and O2 Arena looked great on screen. The shard was pretty, but the digital count down on the top was messed up. The Millenium Bridge was closed off and lots of police were present. There was about 10 seconds of fireworks across the length of the bridge which was good while it lasted but a bit of a disappointing damp squib.

If Sadiq hadn’t spent the money on bloody bike lanes we could have had a decent fire work display. Don’t know what this fools doing with tax payers money but it’s about time Londoners gave him the boot. London becoming a ghost town thanks to him raising train fares putting up congestion charges who does that in the middle of a pandemic and then says he wants to get London moving again. Going the wrong way about it pal people would rather work from home save paying to stand all the way from where they get on train into London. Or pay 15 pounds a day to come into our own capital in our own country taking the provable pal.
