UK Deaf Sport wants to support all Deaf Sport Organisations to improve their governance, capacity, knowledge, and skills to enable them to be sustainable.
To that end, we think it would be highly beneficial for Deaf Sport Organisations to meet the Tier 1 Code for Sports Governance. Achieving the Tier 1 Code for Sports Governance comes with many benefits for sports organisations such as ensuring your organisation has the levels of transparency, diversity and inclusion, accountability and integrity that are required to receive UK Government and National Lottery funding from Sport England and/or UK Sport.
In order to support and help Deaf Sport Organisations meet the Tier 1 Code for Sports Governance and help them with areas such as recruiting and retaining volunteers, promoting their deaf sport, UK Deaf Sport in partnership with Deaf & Hearing Trailblazers, are delivering a training programme specifically tailored for Deaf Sport Organisations based on the Training Needs Analysis that was undertaken earlier in the year.
UK Deaf Sport will be providing the following training sessions between now and the end of September 2023:
Safeguarding Children
Safeguarding Adults
Risk Assessment Training
Introduction to Legal Structures
Volunteer Experience
Financial Sustainability
Development of a Marketing Strategy
Planning/ Networking
It is compulsory that all Deaf Sport Organisations that want UK Deaf Sport to enter them into international competitions attend the following three sessions, however, it is strongly advised that they engage with the whole training programme.
Safeguarding Children
Safeguarding Adults
Risk Assessment Training
Alongside this training programme, UK Deaf Sport will also be providing one to one tailored support to Deaf Sport Organisations to help them to improve their governance.
BSL will be available for all training session.
