Pepper spray is a restricted item. Officially, it's a firearm by virtue of Section 5, Firearms Act 1968.

@Based_transition_Clocker Where have I mentioned the Geneva Convention? You're the one who's mentioned it. There are international conventions on the use of chemical and biological weapons. I am aware that steps are being taken, within the police, to find an incapacitant spray that does not contain CS gas. The Firearms Act 1968 also classifies any device or gun capable of discharging a noxious liquid or gas as a firearm.

In the UK, security guards are not permitted to carry pepper spray. Pepper spray is classified as a prohibited weapon under the Firearms Act 1968, and carrying it without proper authorization is illegal. This restriction applies to both security personnel and the general public. Only law enforcement officers with specific training and authorization are allowed to carry and use pepper spray in the UK.
