These videos are great, and this is one that gives lots of details. However, I did see one detail that was missed. On the original drone, there are three angled fins that run across the top of the vessel. These fins serve a specific purpose. They are needed because of the high speed of the vessel and the large payload located forward of the center. If rough seas are encountered, they prevent the vessel from being forced under the water and becoming a submarine. If the vessel encounters a large wave, the water pushes against the angled fins. This force causes the bow of the vessel to rise out of the water rapidly.

I think the US has been thinking about this for quite a while. They're the ones who sent Ukraine that big first sea drone as part of a defense package, and they wanted to see how it would do or what the Ukrainians could come up with using that as a template. And now they're getting a lot of valuable Intel, as the US and Ukrainians are absolutely sharing intelligence on the daily! I think the US will be the most prepared for drone warfare, offensively and defensively... And I'm happy that the Ukrainians will have a valuable industry after the war💪🏼

@@jackyboi5824USV’s work well in for coastal defense or in limited margarines environments like the Black Sea or Red Sea, definitely not a replacement for a navy, but every navy in the world has something new to think about once they get with a few hundred kilometers of a hostile nations coast. As for tanks, the next generation of tanks is already adding hard kill and soft kill APS not just for ATGM’s but against drones as well. They’re not perfect tech because they require a constant signal for an operator, but their low cost and expendability are their major advantage.

You're forgetting the historical context that Ukraine did in fact have a navy up until 2014, when the Ukrainian Admiral Denys Berezovsky defected and swore allegiance to the Crimean separatists, along with all but one Ukrainian ship (which was part of Task Force 151 in the Gulf of Aden at the time).

not really, It's not Russia fighting a smaller country, it's Russia fighting Ukraine and 19 other countries. The entire logistics and supply, all the missile systems, all the intelligence satellite and drone surveillance are not just supplied but manned by primarily US, British and French forces directly. none of these drone ships wold be very useful without US drone surveillance. Every Patriot missile battery os operated by US servicemen in plain clothes that have been temporarily decommissioned and are technically 'private contractors'. The strike on the Moskva was done entirely by these private contractors and the US 'advisors'. We literally do everything and then get a Ukrainian to push the actual button so they can testify in court if need be that the attack was "launched by Ukrainian forces". These systems are not systems that you can be trained to use in a few months, they take years to learn, but more importantly they don't work in a vacuum, they need our vast logistical systems to be effective or even work. As it stands, Russia currently occupies the vast majority of the territory it wanted to in the first place and there's very little anyone can do to kick them out. Sanctions only strengthened them and gave them new allies. Russia's industrial base is at a record high, their economy is almost in a better place that ours, they have alliances with more of the world now than we do. Ukrainians have fought bravely but they fought for a leader who has been grifting off this war from the start, the sad reality is that they are dying to US politicians and arms contractors can make Billions, and that cynical lot cares not one bit about any number of deaths in Ukraine as long as the war grift cash spigot keeps flowing.

There was a Ukrainian drone company they were showing off these cargo delivery drones used to drop mortar rounds on tanks or capsules carrying life rafts. There were some recruiters as well (I wouldn’t mind teaching Ukrainians how to fly drones or just fly drones for military purposes).

I think the main issue is not that these are impossible to defend against, they are not impossible to defend against actually. The fact is that you can build over a thousand of these and still spend less than a conventional ship. Even the current weapons are barely fit to fend against these attacks, not because they can't, but because they're either impractical due to: not enough ammunition or fire rate, not enough accuracy; or too expensive to use against an expendable drone. The main tactic I would imagine to work against these would be electronic warfare. Cut off the drone's signal to its pilot before it reaches you, but even then, it could go into a sorts of autonomous mode, like search for the nearest jamming signal or some sort of rudimentary radar to get a "something might be over here" signal and then use cameras to locate targets more accurately than the cheap radar could. There's still countermeasures against these that could work as well actually. I just don't know what they are, but I'm sure engineers more fit for this task have already figured this out.

Cutting comunications in age of AI is dubious countermeasure to count on... More realistic would be thermal guided CWIS or Javelin like system but both of those are expensive and would need time to be properly developed, something russians are utterly incapable of right now

Jammers don't discriminate. If you're hauling a powerful long range jammer, you're going to be in as much of a communications black out as those drones. Also the drones have on board chips. There already exists completely autonomous sea drones capable of steering by themselves towards their target. Communications jamming would not help you against a drone who is doing all the computing internally. You would need an EMP in that instance. Phone chips are powerful enough to provide basic targeting systems for drones to indentify and attack targets all on their own. Pair that with on board Ai visual detection systems, and those drones will then be able to tell the difference between targets and choose priorities accordingly all on their own. All of this technology already exists, it just needs someone to bundle it all together in an explosive package😊

@@thecooljohn100 this is at best half true. a jammer will absolutely shut down whatever band of communications you set it for no matter who is using that band. however. any moderately competant military can chose to use bands they are not presently jamming to communicate. the trick is figuring out what band your enemy is using, jamming that band, and shifting our coms out of that frequency range. obviosly this is a lot harder than It sounds like and requires constant updating especially if both sides employ jamming and keep shifiting what bands are jammed. Russia used to be good at this however they have evidently lost the skill. in the modern day their jamming does work the way you describe as they resort to jamming nearly every communications band at once or shutting down the jammer to talk. that that is a mark of SHOCKING incompetence for what was supposed to be the worlds second most dangerous military.

It'll send a chill down every naval commander's spine, just like when aircraft first started being used against ships effectively. It's a game changer. But the Russian Navy is in pretty bad shape in comparison to even the British Navy. The Russians have some really good ships, but their most important ships don't work very well, and apparently the ports that are supposed to service/fix them aren't in very good condition either.

I predicted the fpv drones. Not sure if people listened to me but i described fpv drones with exlosives and 3d printed retrofitted parts in late 2020. It was in fact to a ukranian dude under a video about potential war between ukraine and russia. Again im not sure anyone listened to me. It was obvious really. ISIS made extensive use of FPV drones during its rise and fall in Iraq from 2014-2017, including the dispersed, adaptive production model Ukraine is using now. I distinctly remember a video of a drone dropping a large mortar round on an advancing Iraqi army humvee.

That literally is already happening with the Houthis in the Suez Canal. They've been using unmanned explosive drones to target cargo ships. As for what the US is planning to counter this; I'm sure they've been thinking about this for a long time and already have solutions. My guess is they don't want to show their hand to Russia and China just yet and risk giving either of them any viable ideas. The US is the most prepared for this, especially now that intelligence is being shared between the US and Ukraine daily.

And it also allows for hiring of non typical troops who can't serve in active combat roles, giving those with disabilities or weight/age issues the ability to still serve in a capacity which is crucial for smaller nations especially.
