It's a risk but one that is manageable. Nuclear reactors are housed in some of the strongest buildings on the planet. It would require a tremendously strong earthquake to cause one to fall down. Though weaker earthquakes can cause minor damage which is why if an earthquake occurs the reactors automatically shutdown. Then the facility must go through a full inspection and recertification before it can start up again. Fukushima was hit by a level 7.4 earthquake followed by a tsunami. The earthquake on its own did only minor damage and caused the running reactors to shutdown, which actually helped reduce the damage caused when they were hit by the tsunami.

@@midwestmike613 Only the following countries have nuclear weapons. USA, Russia, China, France, UK, Israel, N.Korea, India, Pakistan. S.Africa allegedly had them in the past. Iran could have them, they don't have them officially. Some other countries like Germany, Belgium, and Italy have joint agreement and NATO nuclear weapons hosted on NATO bases on their countries. Both USA and the hosting country chains of commands are necessary to use those.

If the worlds power generation was 100% geothermal we would cool the earths core until it solidified in about 2-300 years. We would then lose our magnetosphere which would turn earth into mars

@@ekothesilent9456 theory? That's a really super big core and you don't tap the core. You take heat from the area already heated by the core. You capture the heat coming off the core and volcanoes near the surface. It's not like fossil fuel you can't run out. The core wouldn't even notice the insects on the surface. You give the human race a lot more credit than it deserves.

@@bradcurtis5324 draining energy from a system in any way will cool it down. You couldn’t power the entirety of humanity without tapping the core in some way. But even if we didn’t and only tapped surface level volcanic activity and ocean thermal vents it would still remove energy from the geo-cycle. I will add that after a bit of research it wouldn’t take hundreds of years but rather thousands of years to see an affect of our behavior on the planet.
