We have thousands of Irish living in tents FFS ... and why are there so many Ukrainian men here of fighting age !?!

Why are these young fit men telling us we should give them permanent homes? Many parts of the Ukraine are safe, this is like someone from Kerry at the height of the Troubles going to Switzerland and demanding a free house and the right to live there forever.

I don’t know about you, but what i see is that Ukrainians in Ireland are having a dream life, driving good cars, shopping, living in a good neighbourhood while work 2 days a week. So what is going on?

These people are getting 3 bedroom houses for free while thousands of irish homeless on the streets! They found a loophole to complain about their accommodation and get individual houses for free! Irish need to stand up! Getting free things is one thing but being ungrateful and trying to bite the hand that feeds is another!

The level of entitlement is astonishing, especially when you consider that were Ireland to be invaded, they would do nothing.

These young Ukraine men should be doing what young Irish men done in the 70s, fight for your country instead of running to another country, we offered to protect your women and children so Ukraine "men" could fight for their country, it looks like taking women and children gave them one foot here to, what happens after the war do all these refugees get sent back?

I have deepest sympathy for Ukraine but these guys who are strong fit men did nothing to help their cause. They came across as if they think we should be grateful that they came to Ireland. We agreed to help women and children not young men? And we cannot give what we do not have! If those guys went to Ukraine to do their duty, that would free up a few properties?

Yes it's difficult for both parties and they should have a right to work here immediately. But I see plenty able Ukraniers here in Ireland that do not have to mind childeren or old people . 🤔 so I ask myself why are they not helping in the war 🤔 their brothers and sisters are slaughtered by dirty invaders . Not everyone is a front line soldier but there is plenty to do to support them .

I’m a Ukrainian who currently based in Ireland had never thought about not receiving enough, on the contrary, I thank people a billion times and voice out how all should be grateful, while actively participating it countless volunteering activities for both Ukrainians and Irish people. Next stop is to find a job and stop receiving help from the government. I understand your emotions in comments though.

Theses men look fit and able to go back and fight for their country

The point which the Ukrainian refugees were making in this video is that offers of accomodation made by Irish people to take Ukrainians into their own homes have not been processed quickly, or at all in some cases. There is no negative effect on the house purchase, rental or hotels markets (contrary to some of the commentators here) when offers of accomodation in their own homes by Irish people are matched with Ukrainians granted temporary protection in Ireland. It is also more beneficial for the Ukrainian families because the host family can assist them with schools, employment and integration in general, and because the place where the Ukrainian family is staying is not constantly changing. In Ireland the responsibility for matching Ukrainian refugees, who have been given 'temporary protection' status here, to accomodation pledges, was given to the Irish Red Cross, and the reality is they have been overwhelmed and unable to perform that task adequately. As of mid October 2022 the Irish Red Cross had only managed to place 4,500 (about 10%) of Ukrainian refugees who were given temporary protection in Ireland in pledged accomodation, although 24,000 offers of accomodation by Irish people had been made by mid April 2022 following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Irish Red Cross have only been able to activate 10% approximately of the accomodation pledged by Irish people following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In recent weeks the Irish Red Cross have had to be told by the relevant Government Minister to focus their efforts on matching pledged accomodation with Ukrainian refugees in two counties - Donegal and Dublin. There may be some lessons to be learned by Ireland from the UK Sponsorship scheme for taking Ukrainians into homes, where arrangements for matching have been made the responsibility of local authorities.
