Yeah these are easily my favorite fights in the game tbh. I also loved the story, I’ve had the Ruby weapon quest on my mission journal ever since I unlocked the fight in order to get the Blu spell, but didn’t initially care, but after clearing it as Reaper and actually reading I started to enjoy it and uhhhh finished the rest in the same day hitting the end around 3am. 10/10 would do again lmao

@@OldSpaghettifactory89 that's kinda what happens when technology advancing that much is still somehow on par with the existence of magic that which empowers such medieval weapons/armors. They don't need to advance their technology because of their magic advancing. While the ones who have little magic but have technology need to continue advancing their technology just to be equal with the ones with magic. So you could say that while the Eorzeans seem to be 'stuck' in regards to their physical technological levels, their magic in this case has taken the place of their technologies. Like, why have the need to use complex vehicles when your technology in this case can be a magical crystal capable of teleporting people between cities of vast distances?

It's like, important to Zodiark because HIS heart is made out of Elidibus who was the convocation member with the Ophiucus constellation on their crystal. Ophiucus is meant to be a healer, so it fits with Elidibus' role as the moderator of the convocation to heal them from any disagreements they might have. Plus, Ophiucus carries the snake constellation Serpens everywhere, which has represented the Zodiark summon ever since Final Fantasy tactics where his zodiac stone is that of Serpens!

I love the use of Beat and how it loops around using Sabik. And also, not only does beat fit because that's what hearts do, but it has an extra meaning here in that the weapons are attemps to surpass Ultima, or in other words, to beat their predecessor, the heart of sabik.

@@bon7029 It's more likely that she disliked it, as when it was done by Lahabrea the scale of destruction it wreaked was FAR more massive, or easy to see in terms of the sheer amount of power it packed. Whereas her own version of the spell? We shrugged it off. We needed Mommy Hydaelyn to use the power of Light and likely power from the Mothercrystal to Shield us from Ultima when Lahabrea used it, but her? Meh, that's just Tuesday.

The WoL obviously gets stronger each expac, Lahabrea canonically kills us in ARR, we only get revived and succeed with mom's help - whereas we deal with him more or less on our own in HW. We go from getting bodied by Zenos to kicking his fake-echo infused dragon ass in the space of about 7 levels. We literally kill two, count them, two, gods, empowered by the faith of the most powerful people to ever exist in the history of Etheryis in EW, and then Go Even Further Beyond to beat up X. Comparing ARR WoL to post-EW WoL is like comparing post-Dragonball Goku to post-DBZ Goku - it's heaven and earth.@@rednova2212

I'm talking Aetherically speaking... We shouldn't be TOO much stronger. It's like novel story telling vs power scaling in anime. But you are right, we've gotten TONS stronger than we were back then. @@Toksyuryel 100% agree, but I suspect that they never will since souls games was from softwares break away hit franchise that made its own genre making them into what they are today. Armoured core is too much of a niche genre for them now, doesn't make them anywhere near enough money compared to the latest souls game. That said I'd kill for another well done armoured core game. A decent story with multiple endings, balanced combat system with limitations of energy and weight, destructive environments, perhaps a tech tree in the campaign so you head down a similar design concept for your core would all be welcome additions to the next instalment. In my opinion maybe not focus on multiplayer as much so more effort can be put into the campaign but still have it of course.

If you look closely in one of the Ruby Weapon cutscenes you can see Garleans actually doing just that

from what has been pieced together the characters seem to guess it was a creation of the Ascian's as an attempt to recreate the powers of the alien Ultima, The High Seraph with a sliver of Zodiark's power allowing anyone to use the most power single magic ever seen on the planet.

I'm pretty sure the weapon trials state that it's something akin to auracite, and chock full with energy

@@spirto1279 I would guess it is basically a mix of Auracite (the vast quantities of aether contained) and something akin to the Ascians own memory crystals, what with it containing the knowledge to cast Ultima similar to the Crystal of Azem being imbued with their signature ability.

I think they should have used the G-Warrior in the Diamond Weapon trial. Instead of strapping him to the platform, the off-tank has to hop in the G-Warrior and use the shield to protect the party from a wiping attack, kinda like parrying Susano's stuff, and clear out those turrets that harass you during the Sapphire Weapon fight.

If you play the Ivalice raids and recall that the all the Weapons run on Synthetic Auracite then the Heart of Sabik which the original Ultima Weapon used is definitely a piece of Actual Auracite from the High Seraph herself or at least that is what I think it is.

Agreed. It's bothered me for basically...hm, 2021 - 2013 = 8ish years that this has NEVER BEEN MENTIONED AGAIN. I get it could just be one of those "throwaway lines that makes things sound cool/ancient/epic/powerful", but given how they use hooks like that to tie future stories or retcon things in a way that furthers the plot and expands on the lore, I've been genuinely confused as to why they've never revisited or mentioned that. Then again, they just had someone ask us if we REALLY know who/what the Twelve really are..........so who knows?

Most video game songs that sound Latin, aren't. They usually use gibberish that sounds like Latin. EG: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zr19jK9nrdu5n30.html The song sounds like some European language, maybe Italian, but it's completely made up.

The original is in nonsense Latin. They gave it English lyrics for UWU (The Weapon's Refrain/Ultima Weapon: Ultimate), and that's what's used here! I wish they'd make a version with the lyrics from UWU but the original instrumentation and certain vocalizations from the OG too, but ah well.

Given that Garlemald is a smouldering ruin of civil war and death, and the current saga is ending in 6.0, unless we go to Meracydia and dig up some other Allagan monstrosity, I don't see any more weapons in the future. Though I shudder to think what sort of abomination the Telophoroi would create as a Weapon, given that these ones are pretty much Magitek Evangelions.
