💯.. I was scratching my head at the “boring” comment.. how is any plant boring??? Even pothos which are literally everywhere are completely beautiful and fascinating.. I’m so glad I’m not the only one that was stumped by that observation. 💚🌳💚

Aglaonema are my favorite plants. I have over 20 different varieties and I am always looking for new ones. I don't understand why they aren't more popular than calathea or whatever they're called now. They don't care about humidity, they never get brown or crunchy, they aren't over dramatic, tantrum throwing toddler plants. They grow in all areas of my place, north facing, west facing, artificial, they don't care! They come in so many patterns and colors. I'll take them all!

gotta lump the Aglaonema into the same group as pothos - not flashy, no fancy, but will always be there for you when all your other fussy plants up and die without rhyme or reason. I stan the Aglaonema's; they've always looked out for me.

Perfect timing! I never really had a deep appreciation of Aglaonemas but now I’m in love with them. I think a well grown plant is beautiful even if fairly common. My understanding is that the more colorful cultivars get floppier as they mature.

Here in asia, we give agloanemas morning sunlight and put them indoors with indirect light. Since we live in a hotter climate, the sun is hotter and will totally scorch the leaves. There in cooler climates. I recommend to put them in direct sunlight since its 🥶 🧊

In cold climates it’s actually warmer inside than in warmer climates, in winter. Our walls are thicker and filled with insulation. Our windows have 2 lanes or sometimes 2 layers of window with a space between them. Heating systems are also more efficient or something. I was colder in japan and Taiwan and England in winter than i am in Canada.

I can't grow calathea in my dry house but my 3 aglaonema handle it just fine. So I have changed my wish list plant calathea ornata to the chocolate aglaonema. Same kind of look but probably won't die on me during the winter. 😊 Thanks for the tips. My silver bay was away from the cold but still managed to get a draft and the bottom leaves were doing exactly as you said. I cut them off and it seems to be ok now.

My grandmother loves it. My mother loves it. So ... I love "Sri Rezeki" (Agalonema) too. This plant is so easy to care and propagated. I use my compos soil, specially fermented garbage from my kitchen. They love it. But yess It is not easy to care for the new cultivars such as the most most expensive cultivars eg. "Golden Hope" from Mr. Greg Hambali (Father of Agalonema), ect. But I don't know if it can be easy to grow on 4 season lands. Thank you for making this channel always on one step a head for our plants community. You are so inspiring and always make me smile. ----

These plants are survivors. I have a red Siam which was growing great in a dark corner under a Soltech Aspect grow light. Then suddenly after 2 gorgeous years, stems got very leggy and starting snapping off weekly until I only had a few stems left. I tried rooting the top of leafy broken stems in water but a year later nothing. As a last resort I put the stems in potting soil and pumice mix. Low and behold every stem rooted and leafed out. Meanwhile my original pot which looked like a sad cut down forest, had new shoots start popping out of the soil and each 2-3 inch bare ‘trunk’ started sprouting new shoots out the tops. So now I have 3 pots filled with multiple 8-10 inch tall plants. This spring I will put them all together in one pot to make a nice bushy pot. Mother Nature can be pretty resilient sometimes.

I am no expert. This is my only experience with aglonema. After watching more KZfaqs about them, it seems some varieties tend to get more leggy versus others. So either RedSiam is leggy type or I am doing something wrong. Ha. I just saw one youtube that said when her aglonema gets leggy she replanted it hiding more of the stem under the soil. Nice to learn all the hidden tricks..

I have avoided these guys because I have spider mites in the trees in my neighborhood. The first year (we lived here) I killed a Diffenbachia by not noticing until too late that we had brought them indoors ( the spider mites ) for winter. Although Neem oil is part of my ongoing routine now I have shied away from plants with big thin leaves. Are they more resilient than fellow aroid Diffenbachia? Well it really wont be a problem in the future. We are moving soon. Hopefully out in rural KY there will be more natural predators for the mites and I won't have to worry about an annual re-infestation when my plants go outside for their summer vacation. Thanks for more brilliant content. You are the best!

I propagated the striped green variety from stem cuttings. I find the process to be slow, but it was worth propagating from any piece available. The stem cuttings develop very slowly in the heat of summer but that speeds-up in early fall when the heat abates. So did Dieffenbachia cuttings. I find that tip cuttings and plant division give better results.

With all the Calatheas I have, it’s nice to these easy to care for plants. I have about 6 different types with mostly the pink, red, and white leaves.

Hello Summer, I have a aglaonema which must be at least 20 years old. I admired the beautiful cultivar that you showed us so I am going to look for one. I would like to see a video on spathiphyllums. Thanks for sharing this interesting video.

I love agleonema! I find them to be the cute and easy going girl next door to Calathea's high maintenance diva demands! 💜

I have a black thumb and I was able to trial and error this plant into some beautiful growth. I think I still have her in too bright of a window so there's some scorching but mostly okay. Also I keep my house at 58-59 at night in the winter and she's done 👌

The only aglo I have is the pictum tricolor and it’s my scariest plant. It’s doing okay but it’s my first winter with it. Last growing season it tried flowering 6 times and grew a few leaves but it is currently down to 3 leaves and I want to blame winter and a mealy bug. Hopefully I can make it as happy as yours. Btw yours is the reason I kept pinching the flowers! 💙

Continue to pinch the flowers and put that thing under a cloche! Also try giving it more light, It’s too rare and pricey to lose! Lol

Thanks for showing some of the more colorful choices! When I lost my house (in 2018) to fire, all my plant buddies went too, save for the dormant dragon lily. The first two plants I got post fire were a epiphyllum and an aglaonema from a friend who was relocating. So generous! Both were of a pretty good size. The Aglao is in an 8" tapered metal(ish) pot. It has an ideal light source and is very happy overall. We had a large show of flowers this year. Here is my question: What do you think causes those yellowing tips? I see them on your (very healthy) Plants as well. They do seem to occur on the lower leaves only. I do not water often, but I water well and then wait. There are no obvious signs of rot anywhere, and no other blemishing of the leaves. Takk pa forhand! Thanks in advance! Gwen

it’s very normal for plants to drop their older lower leaves over time. those leaves get less light as the plant grows bigger, getting shaded by the other leaves.
