This review needs some more work. Having both units. Few things are missing: - OneXPlayer cant output 4k 120hz via hdmi it needs displayport dongle, GPD G1 has only HDMI 2.0, revised GPD G1 should have HDMI 2.1 - GPD G1 has massive stability issues with 120W bios using with Legion Go so the stock is 100W. It is unclear which bios was used testing. - GPD G1 has massive issues with outputting enough wattage Legion Go will throttle down if it is not plugged in. This is why they are releasing revised version of GPD G1. - I also noticed that GPD G1 has more frame stability issues. Wattage fluctuates via usb 4. - OneXGPU is louder than GPD G1 but GPD G1 is unstable at 120W. The chips are the same, the difference is power management, throttling, software and cooling.

I wouldn't mind seeing how the NVME slot performance is on the G1 over USB.

Did you mean NVME performance on the ONEXGPU? If so we tried a couple of older SSDs (we have got any new ones at the moment) on the ONEXGPU and AYANEO Slide via USB and got around 522MB/s on them.

Both devices were using 100W for the benchmarks to keep it fair. We mention the fan noise, heat and power usage towards the end of the tech specs. In comparison the G1 was around 63db so relatively quieter than the 72 on ONEXGPU, we have not tested thermals or power usage on the G1 but will likely do that on the new model when we review it.

@@jimpaolo123 I talk about it a little at the end the pros and cons of each. Personally I (Dave) prefer the G1 as it is a bit more portable with the power supply being integrated, I have taken this one home in the past. But honestly I alternate between using both and there is not much difference. Both are great and it comes mainly down to preference.

Yeah the fan noise is very loud. I think with some tweaks to the fan settings, OXP could lower the fan speed versus the temperature. and only have it going full whack when required.

I'm not sure whether you mentioned it in the video (you probably did), but which eGPU is generally more quiet?

I dont think we measured the fan noise for the G1 but it is quieter than the ONEXGPU.

what is the max supported Refresh Rate using both display Ports. Will it work running 165Hz and 240Hz (which are my displays Refresh Rates I have)

I have huge issues with the noise of the G1. If I do not use the turbo mods on the OneXGPU, how loud will it get? I am speaking of 1080p/60fps gaming here, not running the GPU at its max performance.

Fan noise is towards the end of tech specs along with thermals and power usage.

Repaste your G1 with Gelid Thermal Pads and PTM 7950. It will massively reduce the noise and max out temps ~ 67C. I use 120W bios on Occulink and it is much quieter than 100W bios and factory paste job.

I'm getting absolutely trash framerates with the GPD G1 on my Lenovo Legion Go on the LeGo's screen. It runs just fine on an external display, but I don't think the framerate on the LeGo's display are supposed to be around 2FPS. Any tips on what I might need to do to fix this?

We mention this in the video a little. If you are using an external monitor rather than internal, the data is travelling mostly one way i.e. HANDHELD > USB TO ONEXGPU > HDMI TO MONITOR. If you are using internal display, the data is going HANDHELD > USB TO ONEXGPU > USB BACK TO HANDHELD. So the traffic on internal display is going both ways on the USB which causes a bottleneck. It should not cause games to run at 2FPS if they are OK on external monitor. I would first check that the correct GPU is being used. Go into the games settings and check if there is a setting to change the GPU. It can vary between games, some it will be GPU, some will be Display etc. Try changing that and see if it resolves the issue.

@@DroiX_Store Thanks for the reply. It was something totally weird and random. In device manager, the Legion Go's GPU wasn't displaying the 780M like I see in some other youtube channels. I had to manually reinstall the driver in a non-standard way to get it to finally work.

I was gonna say you should loose about 10-20% running on internal screen, but it should still give you at least 2x performance than the z1 extremes gpu

A desktop PC? Yes you could connect if it has USB 4 port. But you would likely be better off using an internal graphics card.

Hey, which one you think would be better for an ROG FLOW Z13?, i want some extra power in certain games, especially because the rtx3050ti in it its limited to only 40w and some AAA games run only at low settings.

According to benchmarks the 7600M is around 15% faster than the 305Ti. But once you factor in its USB and not Oculink connection you will loose some performance here. It can vary between game but overall I don't think you would see a massive increase in performance.

TLDR : Both are within a margin of error and it comes down to ports and G1 is getting a revised design very soon.

In terms of performance the 2024 should be exactly the same as the original model, so you can use this video for reference. The G1 2024 model has a switch to change between the lower power 60W and 100W original power. This will make the fans a little quieter. It also has improved HDMI video output.

Personally I (Dave) would choose the GPD G1. The performance is the same but I like the smaller overall portability of the G1 compared to the ONEXGPU. The ONEXGPU power supply is massive!

Can you test for this issue? Device overheats itself on Oculink when PC is not on. I don't know if I have a defective unit or its a design flaw. Its an easy miss though if you are not paying attention. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hrKdi9t9msvXnYE.html

When you switch off the GPD, the ONEXGPU is still switched on (RGB LED still on). My guess is it charging the GPD battery. Try switching the ONEXGPU off with the button on the side and see if the heat changes.

@@DroiX_Store Seems to happen no matter the case if oculink is plugged in and the host is not on. I have to remember to unplug oculink when I have used it. USB4 works exactly as expected. It also occurs if the usb4 is not plugged in and just the oculink is, which would not attempt to charge the GPD.

I had a bit of time this morning to recreate the issue you reported. I can confirm that while Oculink and USB are connected and the for example Win MAX 2 is connected and switched off, there is still a considerable power draw up to around 28W. We thought it might be where its charging the device but once it was fully charged the power draw remains. We left it for a while and the temperature was a high as 77 degrees C which is very hot to touch, we stopped there in case there was any damage. We have provided the information and a thermal camera video of the issue and sent it to ONEXPLAYER for further advice. We will keep you updated here. It might also be worth you to contact OXP as well as it could be a wider issue.

This will flop massively. There is no explanation to what this is for newbs and how to use it and what its actual purpose is. Along with the accent which makes them sound a bit ‘simple’ it would be beneficial to illustrate ‘what this fun tech is all about’, connectivity, requirements etc. 👍🏻

It is a niche market. You have to know what a GPU is to understand what an EGPU brings to the table. In short, increases graphical processing power. i.e. video games play better.

You will flop massively. It's impossible for these to flop massively because it's a niche product and is manufactured in limited quantities with high mark-up. It's not for you, who has no grasp of basic economics or thinks that the company behind this actually sells this to "news."

This whole video is just charts but no actual gameplay. Very disappointing. I dont care for charts when i can see the actual use of this gpu
