Ok but here's a question. It's an honest question and not intended to imply that you are contradicting yourself, since I suspect there is a good underlying explanation. So here's my question: on another video you pointed out that white can easily ruin a mixture even in small proportions. That one should make efforts to keep it out of certain color mixtures. But now in this video presentation, you are mixing white in almost all the mixtures. I have to admit I'm a bit confused. Hoping you can clarify this for me. Thanks!

That’s interesting because the colour wheel that I use is a little bit different doesn’t use brown but instead actually has a pre-mixed bright purple. And the red blue and yellow i use are very bright.

I was reading an article on mixing Colors. Tell me if I am wrong, they said that dark Colors should be apply thinner on the canvas because it is easier to put the lighter color in it. Could you please explain more about this concept.

Thanks a lot Mr. Carder! Your videos help me to improve my skills. I have two questions. Unlike you, I prefer to mix most of the colors during the painting process. For example there are only a few colors prepared on my palette for painting an ordinary pear, like dark mantis green or moss green. Then I mix two of them to get necessary mid-color if it is needed. And sometimes, I add other color to the canvas directly and just blend colors a little bit. My first question is: Do I have to prepare all of my hues and tones before I get started? Does that method contribute to realistic view of my painting? Secondly, as you said, you use your own brand’s oil paints at the moment. Which essential Winsor & Newton colors you were using before you found Geneva Fine Arts Company? More in particular which red?

Excellent, just what a nooby needed

I'm currently learning and using Acrylics for the short term as I don't have a place to use oils with airflow. Could anyone point me to Winsor & Newton equivalent colours? I'm guessing titanium white, ultra marine and burnt umber will be the same but which red and yellow should I use? Cadmium Red looks much brighter than this red but could be the screen. Also cadmium yellow comes in a few hues. Much appreciated

However, I have a question: I saw that you've changed your yellow to bismuth yellow instead of cadmium yellow because you said the cad yellow was towards the green, or something like that. Hi Mark. Great video as always. Have you seen/read the book entitled 'Blue and Yellow do not make Green'? If not it's really useful in explaining that in order to make secondary colours that lean towards cool and warm, an artist's palette should contain a warm AND a cool red, a warm AND a cool blue and a warm AND a cool yellow. Have you adopted that approach before? It has worked for me in the passed with great success and is still classed as a limited palette. Cheers

I have been to many talks about color mixing and color theory - but this is the one I use and recommend to other. Its just so clear - and it is maybe strange that I take this as my favorite color theory because I do not paint realistic but use color as tone and look at paintings as visual, tactile Music and I also do a lot of mixing during the painting process - and this theory has really given me a nuanced understanding of color - and then another question I use Newton and Winsor art could you say which colors you used before your own because it is so expensive to buy anything from USA because of rules of import - but your lessons are just great nomatter what style you are working with - thank you for sharing www.lisengel.com

Black has too much much blue ?? Every blacks ? Black isnt a mix right ? Its black pigments or.. ? Never heared or seen blue in black.. Edit: what I mean is that colors doesnt works like temperature, orange is not the absence of blue, yellow doesnt contain blue.. or you can blow my mind by saying that yellow contain more blue than orange.. ?? I learned that the 3 primaries maked brown, in light black is absence of.. light but in paint black isnt obtainable with primarys, in theory we need the 3 primaries AND black and white.. or I miss something and someone can explain me this..
