Rocket Science - considering the Thrustmaster Eswap (X) Pro controllers because of my large hands... do you think there are any major differences between an Eswap Pro with NXG S2s or an Eswap X Pro with NXG S5s when it comes to how they behave in Rocket League? Seeing as one will be basically using Ps4 firmware and the other Xbox One firmware... I thought perhaps that could still make a difference. I would like to go with the X Pro, but if it's limited or less responsive than the Pro I might change my mind.

Finally, a great in-depth review about controllers. I was tired of just finding videos about people reviewing the controllers "on the surface", but I wanted to see a scientific one that really takes out the subjectivity so I can have the most accuarate decision about getting one of those, especially for competitive games. Thank you for explaining the XBOX One controller polling rate limitation even when set to 1000hz. I've spent hours trying to see where I went wrong bc I kept setting it at 1000Hz but getting the same input lag test results over and over in XInput. I thought it had to do with an error on my part. Cant tell you how much I appreciate what you do for this community. Ive played with xbox controllers since the game came out and never got past Champ 2 on pc. Switched to DS4 and overclocked my controller, now I hit GC after only a month of using DS4. There is so much input lag on xbox controllers, that when I switched to DS4, my timing was VERY off because the car would turn wayyy faster than I expected it to. I spent so much time with my $8000 build being bottlenecked by CONTROLLER LATENCY! WTF MICROSOFT! Idk how I was competing in C2 with that much input lag. I get stable 480fps on 12700k/2080ti and I run DS4 wireless @1000hz polling.

How long did it take you to get used to the DS4 from Xbox? Kinda feel like the Xbox controller is just not fully compatible with Rocket league.
@bealight5141
@bealight5141 Жыл бұрын
@@astralpurpose1344 Honestly it was like a week or so of it feeling weird in my hands, (big hands Im 6'4) but I was still doing better immediately. Also, the PS5 (dualsense) controller can be set to 8000hz polling and has even lower input lag (0.0ms vs 0.3-0.5ms) than the DS4. One thing of note, I felt like the DS4 sticks had more range of motion (maybe 1/4" more travel?) than the PS5 version, but the PS5 controllers thumbsticks and the shape of the controller feel much more like the xbox controller to me if that matters you. Both are insanely better than any xbox controller. Raising your polling rate is almost as helpful as raising your frames per second. Two people of equal skill/fps are not even remotely equal if one has 250hz polling (xbox) and the other has 8000hz polling (dualsense). If you dont know, the polling rate determines how often your controller sends info to the pc. Higher polling rate means that your controller inputs will be registered way faster and way more often at 8000hz than 250hz. Meaning if we both press jump at the same time, I'll be in the air before you if my polling rate is higher. (granted your pc needs to be able to handle the polling rate and higher polling is more helpful with high fps than low fps). If you are freestyling or air dribbling, you will have more control with higher polling rate because the controller will register your adjustments much faster. Hope this helps you and anyone else that might see this. Good luck out there 🙏

OMG this video is amazing and came at just the perfect time for me. I watched it twice. Thank you. It's a video that I imagine pro-gamers should watch too in order to remain competitive. Personally, I've only just recently discovered Rocket League and have quite quickly come to love it and come to realize how significant this game will be in the future of e-sports. I also realize just how limited your movements are using only a keyboard. I haven't been much of a gamer in the past, but I know I want to play more Rocket League now, and I also know I need an analog controller in order to develop further as a player. In just the past few days of playing with a keyboard, I knew I was going to have to do some research to figure out what controller to get, and this video just helped me save so much time, and helped me to learn some things about controllers (like overclocking) that I probably wouldn't have ever even thought about having not watched it. So once again, thank you so much for providing that information in such great detail. I am definitely now a subscriber, and look forward to more content. Thanks again.

That analogue stick accuracy explains why I bump into objects far more in Destiny 2 on Xbox compared to PS5 - I knew it had to be the Xbox Controller, but didnt think it was something so obvious. That is a little worrying, especially as the Elite 2 controller is so expensive - you want consistency when paying so much.

Hey man, I really appreciate the hard work you put into this investigation. I've used your tips in the past to reduce input lack by overclocking my ds4 controller. After moving from ps4 to my new PC I noticed a huge difference in input lag, especially because I have a 144 hz monitor. I never realized how much input lag was hurting my mechanics because it was always there, so I didn't really notice it. At that point I used your videos to minimize the input lag from all sources. Not only did I see an instant rank improvement, but training became much easier and I am improving at a much higher rate. I was hard stuck in diamond before and now I'm in the champ ranks and still doing well. Thanks a lot!

Holy moly, this was amazing. I've been really considering getting the eSwap X, looks like I made a good choice! I still need to test one, because I play with a really weird grip (pinch both sticks with thumb and index, middle on bumpers, ring fingers on triggers) and have small hands, so it may not be comfortable. Right now I'm using the 2nd gen Nvidia Shield controller, I got to try it at a friend's house one day and it felt amazing with the grip that I use. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing some ridiculous stick drift (software based I think, occasionally the left stick moves full-deflection to the left. I can fix it momentarily by moving it, but within 2-5 seconds it goes back. This is not a constant problem, some times it acts up more than others. It's very bothersome, especially since that's how I use air roll) and want to get a new controller. Thanks so much for the comparison!

Hi you are not considering a very and most important tweak. Where either bluetooth and / or USB can benefit in input lag and make things really good... Did you try to use your computer drivers in MSI mode with High Interrupt Priority? Enable all your drivers in MSI mode except for audio cards and Intel Management Engine. Also, enable MSI in your video card, set it to High on the priority collumn, reboot your PC and test controllers again. I reduced my XBOX Series controller to 3.5ms and the Dualsense ranging from 0 (YES 0ms!!) to 1.5ms. Another important thing for the NVIDIA card users, enable low latency on ultra mode and tripple buffer on games. This will present you the most smooth experience in terms of input lag. Try it.

@@LockMatch Hey! Yes, I bought Eswap Pro X - The Xbox version. It has perfect sticks with zero stick drift even after 4 months of regular use. I also did an overclock on it, but after consulting in halfwaydeads discord server, it seems to be true that PS version overclocks better, if You care about that. I chose to go with X version so that onscreen symbols matches face button symbols on controller. I can only recommend the controller. My only gripe with it is the placement of back buttons. I was hoping to use my little finger and ring finger to be able to access all 4 of them at the same time, but that isn't confortable for me with normal sized hands. Instead I use ring finger to play around with 2 buttons on each side. With some clever rebinding I feel pretty comfortable with this setup. Recommended. :)

Thank you for talking about how bad the analog stick recentering is on the Xbox Elite 2 controller. This issue really doesn't get enough exposure and it's the only thing ruining the feel of what otherwise is a great feeling controller. This problem is what is sometimes referred to as a large "mechanical deadzone", meaning the area in the center where there is no spring tension. It seems the cause for it are those adjustable tension mechanisms. I guess when you add more moving parts the tolerances build up and this is the result. I wish Microsoft would have just used the standard non-adjustable analog sticks found in the Series X|S controller instead. Or even implement an eSwap style stick module to allow users to purchase higher tension sticks as accessories if they want it.

Some corrections: The Elite 2 is slightly bigger than the "Series" Controllers. It has the size of "One" Controllers (which are bigger). You don't need prying tools to open a Series X Controller. Push a trigger, get your thumb between the trigger an the shell, clip off the panel. Meanwhile there are replacement stick modules for the Elite 2 with all the same features, which you can order.

@Rocket Science The reason the Xbox controller seems less accurate in your precision testing has to do with the calculation method of the analog stick. The xbox controllers default to, i believe, a Radial or True Axis calculation method. This method is not smooth, and its designed to be a "close but no cigar" type of input method. For instance, MS is aware that looking at a 45 degree angle is common. So, if you move your analog stick at 43-47 degrees, it will more or less lock you onto 45 degrees. On the elite controller, you can change this input method to "true diagonals" which will give you the raw input mapping that you get on the eSwapx controller.

But, radial is sort of a training wheels input method. There can be an advantage to using it if the game you're playing predominantly deals with east-west and/or north-south aiming. Ex: halo games. The reason is because if you desire to move your joystick along the x axis at a flat 0 degrees to shoot someone, accidentally moving it + or - 2 degrees can throw you off target. But, default settings will basically apply a deadzone to those axis's. Meaning, if your off a degree or two, it keep your aim going in the desired direction. But yes, generally speaking, true diagonals is the best option

@@konawolv I think I kind of get it. So you're saying radial is smoother, and true diagonal is raw input? I play Apex mainly, and I've been using the xbox controller forever. I feel sometimes I would have crazy good aim, and then the next day my aim would be off for some reason. I'm wondering if radial has anything to do with this phenomenon.

Just tested input lag myself. Both controllers on latest firmware the dualsense averaged 3ms, the xbox one series x averaged 9ms. Both connected with Bluetooth. Make sure you update firmware though. Before I updated the Xbox controller it was getting 30ms input lag.

I wish Sony and Microsoft would sell a special version of their controller with 30g resistance on the sticks and triggers. As-is I always rip them apart and dremel the springs to lower tension, which is excessively difficult on the analog sticks. Most of my controllers just have the spring completely removed from the left analog stick (even minimal spring tension can aggravate my Tendonitis).

Omg, there is so much more science behind that one graph "Mean input lag" I found of you.. For my PC I have an Xbox 360 Wired Controller here (I don't think, you tested this one? But it should be worse than the newer Xbox Controllers) and an unopened Dualshock 4. I want less input lag, so what I've learned from your videos so far is, I should rather use that DS4 with USB and overclock it, if I don't want to buy the DualSense. Correct? Thx for the work you put in. Edit: Now I saw your input lag bug you talk about in a diff video. Does it mean I should test every USB port in my PC with the Precision Tester for example?

Very very very very very good and informative video! I came from vCuda's recommendation to watch this video over the Thrustmaster. I watched his video, purchased a Thrustmaster eswap X Pro, then watched this to see if I'd made a bad decision. Time will tell once my controller is delivered, but I think I made a good choice.

@@jakeb9508 I still have it, and it's doing pretty good! I purchased a spare thumb stick and I haven't had to use it yet. No drift unless I move the stick a little and then take my thumb off of it. But, if I move the thumb stick back, it's back to that brand new no drift feeling. I like the software. The ability to set the triggers' activation spots independently is a possible game changer. I'm coming from a Razer Wolverine Ultimate, and can say that there is a learning curve to the precision of these sticks. But, it feels (and by the proof of this video, performs) more accurate.

Thanks, this really helped me pick a controller to buy for PC for playing TrackMania. I was very close to buying the Elite 2 or DualSense but I'll settle for a Series X controller due to it being natively compatible with Windows and the analog stick centering performance.

This is really amazing content. And it highlights the lack of though put in by manufacturers on their controllers. With all this information I'm wondering if sticking with a mouse and keyboard is actually better. But for casual gaming, I'll stick with an xbox controller simply for comfort. Thank you for this video!

Any info on the new eswap X pro controller? Since it is designed for Xbox Series X, does it have the same issues the xbox controllers in your review had, or is it similar in performance to the PS4 version eswap you reviewed?

You mentioned that the eswap controllers have polling rates based on the licensing companies standards-- so my ?'n is: Does the eswap x controller behave the same as the p/s variant which you cover here?

It's shocking that the stick-click is actually 90% to One Kilogram, that is absurd and I have no doubt this high actuation force is causing premature wear. I'd expect 250g at the most. No wonder I hate using Stick-Click so much.

I can highly recommend the DualSense controller for its thumbstick accuracy and centralization. From someone who has owned over a dozen ps4 controllers, I’ve never had one has precise and accurate as the DualSense when it comes to the thumb sticks. I can easily use 0.05 deadzone on PC and get stalls which is usually pretty hard on low deadzones. Took a couple weeks to get used to but it feels so much better now. Also, hope this comment helps!
