I feel like they really wanted to give hardcore doom players a challenge, so when they released the 4th episode they made it really intense to start off, then gives you a break in the middle / a chance to restock on some ammo and health. And if you're sitting down and playing through it all in one play through, then it's definitely a nice breather, especially cause right after it starts off with you having to kill things right off the bat again.... and all those lost souls next level :/. Edit: Also you should consider downloading the brutal doom mods, I'm sure you've heard of them / seen it, but if not it really makes doom feel like a brand new game. That's actually why I'm here, it made me pick up doom again but I haven't played it in so long that I've forgotten where a lot of the secrets were. Not to mention it almost makes it harder by actually having to aim / enemies having better AI..... and it's brutal haha. also upgraded video quality and re done music with real instruments it's pretty awesome... just sayin :P

I agree that this map could have been E4M1! It's small and easy! Wonder why they put this map later, rather than first..... Hell Beneath and Perfect Hatred could have been later on in the episode!

I just took 18:00 minutes to do this due to wine. But 100% everything! I call it being thorough aka lost. The cacodemons also were glitched in there containment areas...

For me, the four Cacodemons from the trap got stuck and couldn't get out of their rooms which was pretty funny.

Even though this is a short and easy map, I still really enjoy it. Although I agree, it should have been E4M1 :) That was also really nice of that guy to buy you doom 3. Looking forward to seeing you play that in the future although I didn't like the game myself. It just wasn't a true successor to doom. It was a good game but not a DOOM game, if you know what I mean.

the first two lvl's make it really difficult in a sense but its also really fun to pass and make it to the exit i've been finding lvl's in plutonium that i dont even care to explore due to the difficulty and how its traps are placed

Guten Tag BigMacDavis! You somehow missed to show off the hidden teleporter in the pillar room. The switch to open it is on the north side of the second-from-left pillar in the middle row, but as the linedefs are pointing “inward”, you have to press the air from the south, if you know what I mean. Had to inspect the map in Ultimate Doom Builder to figure this out.

When I play this map on co op, there's an invulnerability sphere behind the bars in front of the exit. Why? For what? Like I never figured it out in the 1,000 me and my buddy have played this game. It doesn't make sense. Of course I have the console version cause I'm a console gamer. Is it the same way for the PC version?

I talked to @kakhome1 yesterday about what you would be planning for the 200+ celebration video and if I had bet that you was planning doing a run of Doom on "Nightmare" difficulty, I would win... xD And about the personal message, I hope you like what I sent to you. he's right. whenever I play this particular map and get to the exit, I just use the chainsaw (or the Berserker Fists) on those 4 Cacodemons just to save on ammo

I know Altima has atleast somewhat structured the format that you use for your doom playthroughs. What other doomers do you pay attention to on youtube? Tatsurd, Kimoxvirus, okuplok, jArio etc. Or do you just pay attention to the legends like stx-vile, Henning Skogsto, Anders, Mario, Adam Heygi, Adam Williamson etc?

no problem. oh, and I almost forgot to mention, after damaging him enough with the mini-gun, hide behind the 4 pillars in the monorail room to shield yourself from the Berserker Hunter's fireballs that he'll toss at you. and once he "charges" up and its heart opens up again, run like hell away from it, activate the Artifact and start firing the mini-gun into it. And it also helps to backtrack for Artifact charges and max-minigun ammo before triggering the boss fight to prepare yourself

when do you think the next "Half-Life" chapter will be up? And i'm pretty sure this may've been asked already, but are you gonna be doing walkthrough for the expansions, as well as a walkthrough of "Half-Life 2" and the add-ons for that too?

Should do a walk-through for the BFG edition for Doom 1 and 2

when you do play "Doom 3 BFG Edition" and get to Erebus Labs-Area 6 in the "Resurrection of Evil" expansion, the fastest way to take down the Berserk Hunter is firing the mini-gun into its exposed heart. But before triggering the actual boss fight, bring up the mini-gun and then switch the Artifact. because once his introductory cutscene finishes, he immediately does his leap-attack (i'd strafe to the left, the split second before he does his leap attack to avoid taking damage)

After getting through most of the Plutonia experiment I can safley say that most of these lvl's from ultamate doom are no comparison in difficulty

I believe the logic is rather easy: the difficulty of E4M1 is mostly due to the lack of ammo/weapons. If you would start E4M1 with plasma gun/30 rockets, it would have been easy. Therefore, in order to make E4M1 really difficult, they put the map at the beginning where you do not get any big guns/insufficient ammo. And they put this map as E4M4 as a "leftover".

in my version the cacodemons got stuck... but it might have something to do with source port, Doom95 that i used when i played with, back in the days...

Hrm, was not aware of the lower-able-pillar-vator(TM) to the Medikits that the Cacodemons were nested in. And I agree that this map doesn't make sense at all with the difficulty drop.
