This map is even bigger pain in the ass than E4M2.

I didn't understand the teleporter, so I was forced to search this walkthrough. Even in 2014, this game is still amazing

I like the part when he gets in his face and just blows him to kingdom come.

When the Cacodemon comes out, if he sees his shadow we get 6 more weeks of hell

I love this map but I absolutely hate it at the same time, it's the only one that's genuinely given me trouble. Literally this is probably one of the hardest maps on the game. The fact you HAVE to take dmg at parts make it incredibly challenging, even for vet doom players.

For those struggling with the big lift teleporter: it’s actually dead simple. The teleporter brings you to the direction from which you enter the lift (so f.e. stepping into from the south, brings you to a spot directly in the south)

I hate this mission.

I love this map for being extremely challenging yet never too confusing, but because I completely forgot about the invincibility power-up (except for once when I accidentally jumped right onto it without the red key and got stuck), I got rocket-blasted so many times when taking pot-shots at the Cyberdemon from one of the balconies. Definitely not in a rush to replay the beginning of this level for the 100th time after that...

I just wanted to say, I thank you for your in depth guide here. Playing Ultimate Doom for the first time trying to get all trophies on PS3 and.. I got this far before things got out of hand. This level is insane, I thought the earlier ones in Ep.4 were bad but oh god, I got so lost and died so much. You're not wrong about needing to know where to go on this level. XD Anyway, I appreciate your attention to detail, most other vids are speed runs that skip areas too fast or do these 'impossible' stunts that I haven't exactly learned out to perform. It was awesome to have an interesting commentary that gives you some awareness of what's going on. Haha, love these games though, they sure don't make 'em like this anymore. ;)

Thank you so much Mr. Davies. I have played and beaten this level before but I couldn't remember where the red key was. I must have ran around that level for 15 minutes looking for that key before I watched your video. I did want to say that there is another strat for the Cyberdemon if you're fast enough and don't want to hoof it to the invincibility orb. You can fight him right on that ledge after getting the red key card. Just don't cross that makeshift bridge and use that alcove to fight him ducking into the hallway as he shoots. I purposefully left a Cacodemon left alive causing them to in-fight. Once the Caco hit the Cyberdemon we tag teamed him and I dropped him without getting hit once. First with BFG shots, then Plasma Rifle shots until empty, and finally shotgun pellets so I didn't peg my Cacodemon buddy. He died just before Mr. Cyberdemon...;)

I just played through this map for the first time ever, on UV, and have to say I did it completely differently and on the verge of death throughout the whole time. Did not find a single secret either. Watched this video and it blew my mind how easy it actually is when you know what you're doing. Masterful level design, my second fav map of this episode after E4M1 and definitely one of the best of the entire game. E4 is getting a lot of hate I noticed but I'm finding it great.

Such awesome secrets and design, only let down is playing this one on multiplayer with people who don't have a clue and don't work as a team. If you "idclip" or "ispispopd" into the wall closest to the plasma cells in the CyberDemon room, there's a hidden room.

At 9:21, you can run and get in the opening you see in the wall to the lower right, that'll take you to the invulnerability too. Tough jump to make though :D

This map is every bit well designed as it is evil. I'm not surprised that Romero did both E4M2 and M6 because they're the two hardest levels in the game. Seriously, this walkthrough is the only thing that got me through these maps.

Thanks for this game play because I am doing this map for the Doom3 BFG Edition for Playstation 3 and I was stuck after picking up the yellow key. Couldn't figure out what and where do go. This game play is just about the same.

This level is a great example of how a big part of Doom is memory and having before hand knowledge of the map layout and enemy/item placement

I had no idea there was a lift on each side of the teleporter. I thought there was only one lift, so I had no clue on how to progress any further which is why I looked up this video. Thanks for helping us n00bs getting pwned by Doom. 😄

10:25 I never understood why and how did the other marines make it to the outskirts of hell? I am pretty sure the first response team that doomguy was a part of that went to deal with the threat on phobos base were the only ones and they were completely wiped out. Then how could we still find dead marines in the inferno chapter's maps and this thy flesh consumed maps as well?

I forgot about the invincibility too, but I killed the Cyberdemon by grabbing a radiation suit, then getting the BFG, then jumping off the ledge into the lava pit and shooting at him from where the lift is! (While dodging rockets lol) Took a few tries, but i left the level with 100% health! Good times!! Subbed!

9:19 You can also run along the ledge and drop down in the opening on the right that leads to the invincibility. It's a bit tricky to pull off, but you take no damage this way.

Great gameplay as always BigMacDavis! Actually, I like this map. The only problems are that part with the Cyberdemon, because he is very close to your position, and the lava pit with the platforms. I just don't like maps with platforms on a pit. But in general, this map is good in terms of design and gameplay. Taking the opportunity, today (July 13) is the Day of Rock here on Brazil, but I'd like to extend to everybody a happy Day of Rock, which celebrates this awesome music genre.

When entering the cheat code to unlock the full map, towards the end with the cyber demon, there is a white box which shows a room behind the plasma ammo, yet I've found all the secrets (before I activated the cheat code, just to see if I missed anything) Something missed by the dev's?

This is also one of my favorites in UDoom. To be completely honest, I don't really understand why a lot of people hate it so much. And also, when you skipped the lava area with the Cacodemons at around 4:37, I thought the Radiation Shielding Suit counted as an item for 100%, or did it?

Hey big mac your playthrough is outstanding but i found and easier way to defeat the cyber demon Instead of trying to out run him just turn and face him with bfg armed strafe out the door when he is within sight fire and strafe back in the door youll take some splatter damage from the if you you should not time it right continue this untill your out of plasma then switch to rockets and continue untill the bastard is dead usually 5 to 7 rockets after that you can then take your time getting to the exit safely Again thanks your tutorials have helped me find my way through a couple of unfamiliar levels

by the way BigMac, the outside area where you used the BFG on the 3 Cacodemons? there's actually a radiation suit out there to the immediate left of that opening

The teleporter takes me to the wrong place. It won’t take me to the blue key. I’m just stuck going back and forth. I’m so mad I can’t complete this level!!!

BigMacDavis is a good walkthrougher. He goes slow and tells his strategies for a part of the level. Mixed with humour sometimes. We need him for some directions in this map.

what makes the red bars that have the invulnerability & backpack lower down? i cant get it to lower

This map is cool to play, though I think it is quite hard and tricky (not as much as E4M1 and E4M2). Hard because most of it is made of lava and it hurts a lot without radiation suit, maybe more than the enemies themselves. And tricky because of that tower of lifts, I took some time to figure out that the opposite direction you take the lift and the teleporter is where you will be taken, and it can be confusing if you don't know how it works, and also when you are rushing to get out of the lava. At 7:15 you can telefrag that imp by taking the teleporter.

I think we can all agree that this mission for everyone was a pain in the ass

i figured the teleporter, but thought i had to fight the cyberdemon without the buff. Ty for the guide, i completely forgot about the one that needed the red skull
