BigMacDavis, I'd just like to say thank you so much for making this walkthrough it has been so helpful, I mean you have no idea. I'm using this to play the Xbox version so it's a little different graphicswise but aside from that it's pretty much the same, though I have to say no matter how hard I tried, I could not get the BFG through the wall in Perfect Hatred, so maybe they patched for the Xbox version I don't know, but I did know I wasn't about to spend two hours finding out for sure. But I digress. I have to say that I used to suck royally at this game before I started using your guides. I had no idea what I was doing and I'd get lost in the levels spending hours when I should've spent minutes. But ever since I started following your walkthrough I've been playing like a pro! So once again, thank you so very much for making this walkthrough, you're a lifesaver, I would be hopelessly lost without your guidance, and I very much look forward to following your walkthrough for Doom II. :) By the way, would you ever consider doing a 100% walkthrough for Doom 3 / Doom 3 BFG Edition? LOL at the funny tidbits of your comments, especially the Lost Souls one. Also, "Thy Flesh Consumed" and "Unto the Cruel" remind me of the footnote for Proverbs 5 (NAB), which says that the wiles of an adulteress "destroy honor, waste the years of life, despoil hard-earned wealth, consume the flesh, and bring [a man] remorse in the end" (5:7-14). That feels scary. Anyway, nice vid.

I actually did telefrag that baron of hell, but the easy way to do it is by teleporting there before ever visiting that room, so that he's not alterted. He's in the perfect spot then. :D

I like the design of this map for the fact that it looks like you are infiltrating a demon fortress inside hell, lol.

If you use the teleporter on the left side of the main room (the opposite of the one with the orange/yellow key) before you alert the Baron, then you telefrag him for sure. But then you are a sitting duck for all of the other enemies.

I grew up playing the Playstation 1 version since I never had a suitable PC growing up. I purchased the Classic Edition on PS3, which includes multiple episodes, as well as doom 2 and final doom and I believe some sort of lost or expert levels. (Haven't gotten that far yet) Anyways, I wanted to say these guides are very helpful and your videos are well done. Nothing fancy, but you explain your moves and strategies well, and everything makes sense. I'm not playing on ultraviolent mode, but still helpful nonetheless. Keep up the good work!

E1M9 is my favorite track in the game, so glad it was used here. It only added further fuel to my ever growing hatred of demons

This map isn't all that hard, just the start is tricky! And it's true that it's hard to telefrag the Baron in the cage. Finally, the Backpack! It'll help out a lot in the rest of the episode!

Man this was a relief - an easy map after the difficult first en second map. Btw after grabbing the backpack at the end, it's worth to get back and search for all energy cell packs and plasma gun, this map has pretty much of those packs.

Note: you have to pick up the Berzerk, it counts as the secret

In a way, this sort of reminds me of a Romero remake of E1M9. Techbase theme, large central area, lots of lifts, and some "jumping" sections. No question E4M9 is the more difficult map, but E1M9 is arguably more dangerous since it has way more gunners. In fact, E1M9 might even be the harder option on Nightmare.

I admit that's one of the (many) things I liked about the Brutal Doom mod. They made the Lost Souls weaker so they died more easily and faster to make up for that handicap. Both those traits combined made them a more interesting enemy. In Vanilla Doom, they really were just a nuisance...

Since you´ve played a lot of Doom games I want to ask you a question. Have you tried the Brutal Doom mod? Basically it adds A LOT more blood, gore and giblets to game. Enemies also do more damage but so does your weapons, weapons have new animations and sounds, there is Mortal Kombat type of finishing moves for enemies etc.

This map is acutally easy and short. The yellow key is close to your start, and right behind the yellow door is the exit switch.

Far be it for me to disagree with BMD, but I find a couple of quick zaps with the BFG clears most of the surrounding enemies at the start, and gives you some breathing space to take down the stragglers.

Well like the man's voice it gives you enough to go on but can still give you a 180 by the time it's done

I was watching High Moon and while I was typing commenting they mentioned slayer while I was and typed doom referring to this. I typed doom and they said slayer it really matched what I referred to, Doom Slayer and fear came out put searched Doom and this came out with word fear. It was good. Doom slayer, fear doom! While this map is no slouch, it is a huge difference from Scythe’s Fear! The “HMNNNNNNNGH!!” That you hear when you begin it. Ultimate Doom is gonna be a challenge in ways! Trying this map pistol start without a ton of knowledge on it had me running around almost like a chicken with its head cut off, as they say. Frantic, looking for ammo, surprised by some enemies. That’s what it’s about

Alright, you kiddies watching this video need to learn how this game works, via courtesy of a DOOM veteran such as myself. 1. The Revenants' only difficult feature is their homing rockets, which can be avoided entirely by ducking behind cover. They are also easily defeated by a single close-range super shotgun blast. 2. The Cacodemons are a bigger threat than you realize. If you can't kite them from a distance, they will block your path, just like the Pinky Demon. Except they can fly. And shoot plasma balls. They are flying, plasma shooting walls of flesh that will corner you and rip you to shreds. 3. Size and health does NOT equal target priority. There needs to be a priority to the enemies you attack. I personally place Chaingunners and Shotgunners at the very top, because their attacks are hitscan and will reduce you to bloody pulp if you don't prioritize them first. For example, if there is a room with a Baron of Hell, two shotgunners, and a chaingunner, I kill the chaingunner first because his attacks are not only hitscan, they are continuous and will only end when one of you is dead or you move behind a wall. Then I focus the shotgunners next because they are slightly easier to juggle with the pause in between their shotgun blasts, despite their higher damage per shot. I do all of this while staying out of range of the Baron and dodging his fireballs, and when all of the hitscan enemies are dead, THEN I deal with the Baron. 5. Make sure you grab whole armor BEFORE grabbing armor pieces. If you take the pieces first, and then the armor, you will end up with 100 armor (using the green security armor as an example, because I think without mods you can only go up to 200 armor and health). If you take the security armor and THEN take the pieces, you will have 100 + the amount of armor you pick up from the pieces. This also applies to health and health pickups. Always, ALWAYS grab medikits BEFORE grabbing potions. 6. *_CHAIN. GUNNERS._* I can't stress this one enough. CHAINGUNNERS ARE YOUR WORST ENEMY. Continuous hitscan attacks are incredibly dangerous. I would mention the Spider Mastermind here, but the reason she is easy to deal with is her size. She does massive amounts of damage and can hit you from any distance, continuously, without having to pause, unless you can damage her, which is easily accomplished considering, if you're careful, you can tag her around corners without ever having to be in the path of her _super chaingun._

Lost Souls: the arch enemy of BigMacDavis

Thought I'd share a note BMD, about a DOOM level in TNT. It's Map 23, Lunar Mining Project. At the 5:00 mark in your walkthrough, you are down in a cavern where the blue key is located --- I found this by accident and thought I'd share --- In this 'room' is a slime-falls. It's actually a teleporter. It will take you back up top to the upper corridor area and into the cramped room with the switch you don't like. It's the switch that opens a door that you can just open like any other door in DOOM. My only guess with that is that maybe it allows you to open the door and fight enemies from that room for extra protection. That's the best sense I can make of it. Just thought I'd give you a shout on that. Maybe something fun to explore.

I don't get it. You can literally grab the orange key card in the first minute and just speed run to the finish. I'm not sure why they even built the other side of the map where the Baron of Hell is caged in?

This was the level my friend and I discovered telefragging. Each other. Ever the brave one, I teleported and died almost instantly, as I didn't move, and got fragged. It sucked.

Proverbs 5-11 is literally talking about horrible death from diseases contracted from prostitution, not wasting away your life. At least, that's how I see it.

"Thy flesh consumed" taken in full context is a warning against wasting your life not playing enough Doom. When you look back at all those wasted years slaving away at a shitty job, you'll think of how you could've spent that time slaughtering demons instead.

I get that everyone doesnt like lost souls but "the worst ever" is crazy 😂. I think theyre a great and serve their intended purpose well though they can be a nuisance i agree. My biggest enemy in the entire game is e4m1 and e4m2. Everytime i play those i scream John's name so loud in anger but my god i cant hate him!😂😂 good fun!

People seemed to really enjoy your videos for them to go this in depth but onto another one He has always disappeared like that. It's really sad. I added him to Facebook a while ago so I could keep tabs on him. He accepted my request the time he came back and posted a video about his computer. He seemed genuine in wanting to come back and not leave suddenly again but alas he does this a lot. I don't know why or what it is but i think he has some serious personal issues.
