Love this for you! We can see how much joy this brings to you. This wins hands down over the Chanel BA. Delvaux is what I would term as ‘old school’ luxury along with the likes of Moynat, Launer and, until recently, Hermès. They aren’t a fashion House churning out collection after collection of new designs showcased on social media for people to regularly blow their cash on. They sell substantial bags, fit for purpose, priced accordingly and with designs that aren’t ever changing but practical. Buy quality - buy once and then invest the rest of your hard earned money into something more profitable in the long term than handbags.

Love Delvaux, love Magritte. I considered getting the black Brillant with the cloud lining but never pulled the trigger because I knew trying to keep the interior pristine would make me crazy. Super Big Congratulations!! It's seriously such a cool bag, and I'm happy you've decided to keep it. It's stunning, truly! Delvaux first came onto my radar several years ago along with Valextra. Amazing bargain. Being Belgian, we grew up with Delvaux. Got my first for my 60 th birthday. My ultimate bag is the Delvaux Brillant Black Beauty and the Magritte bag! I own 2 Brillants , a small brown one and a black East West, and several other Delvaux bags. One is a Simplisime tote , a gold Long wallet on a chain and my latest is a Boston Louise.

LOVE this video, and that you've got your dream bag!!! It's such a gorgeously designed bag. Your reminder that buying bags should be about the quality, and the joy you feel about it. This has drawn me closer to jumping on a (current!) semi-dream bag for me. I feel like I want a Launer handbag, the Queen's brand, somehow to commemorate this moment in history. And I realise that having a handmade bag with that sentimental edge is a reason to buy it... Rather than thinking about my 'true' dream of another Birkin, or a Kelly, which will come along at some other point / thinking about the resale not being good enough (when it's a bag I'd be getting as a sentimental bag). Your joy over a brand that's not hugely well known, but is amazing quality, is exactly what I needed to hear right now!

Thank you so much!! The tempete is also a beautiful bag. I'd love one in a mini. Between the two 🤔 they are obviously different stylistically. I do think I prefer the look of the brillant myself in the bigger size, but the tempete is much lighter, and also has a less fiddly clasp, which makes it easier to use as a bigger bag

Yay I’m so excited for you and loved your excitement! I didn’t know exactly what bag you were going to pull out but I knew it had to be something special! Congratulations 🍾 and enjoy 😉! I was lucky enough to get my dream bag a Chanel Reissue 228 earlier this year, I thought I would never even get a Chanel. I seen a Chanel phone holder WOC style bag and purchased to get a bag and out of nowhere I seen the Reissue and never even knew there was a 228 size. I purchased the Reissue and resold the phone holder, they were similar in price and I knew I would use the Reissue more plus my excitement! So I totally get the decision to get this and not keep the Trendy.

Yes, I first knew about Delvaux last year, so when I went to Italy in April, I walked past the boutique and admired the display from outside. I do observe the leather to be sturdy / hardy but with limited resource, I bought a Fendi instead. Your bag will be a workhorse for many years! Congrats!

Delvaux and Moynat have been quite popular for luxury handbag collectors who prefer lowkey bags. Both brands also handstitch bags like Hermes. I have been looking at the Brilliant for while but the closure turns me off it. I figured it would not wear well long term. And i think that is a big reason why this bag do not hold their value AT ALL. Also i think i prefer Moynat. I've also been looking at Savette bags (affordable option). The bag is gorgeous though! I absolutely love the print! Please update us on the wear and tear!

Oh yes, neither delvaux or moynat hold their value well. Luckily I just plan to keep this forever, so I don't need to worry about that 😂

So happy you found your dream bag! Orrrrr IT found u =) I discovered Delvaux by seeing it on one of my friends who also collects Hermes. She really wanted a pink Birkin but she found a gorgeous hot pink Delveau. Not sure how to spell it. anyway, yes it is def on par with Hermes leather/craftsmanship. ENjoy dear!!!

I may have first learned of Delvaux bags while watching your 5 bag tag you did recently. thank you- I didn't realize this was a reference to a famous art piece-I thought it was a riff on gucci and somebody or a somebody and somebody collab who did something similar in english (clearly I'm a newbie to the luxury bag scene). love your moliere reference. I remember being a fan of tartuffe and the misanthrope many a year ago.

Beautiful bag. Since you’re interested in language I just want to say that “un” and “une” are not pronounced the same in French. Un is pronounced as “ahn”. Also you do not pronounce the s on pas unless the next word after the pas is a vowel. In that case the s, which makes the z sound in French, becomes a part of the next word. Therefore the correct pronunciation for “pas un” is “pa zahn”.
