I love how Rockstar made that little portion of the map, hid it because it served no other purpose, and intended for players to never find it. Well, not only it was found not too long after release, but now modders have built an actual city surrounding it. All because the devs didn't use the playable map for the cutscene. Amazing.

I remember installing this on the mobile version of GTA 3, the original Android port that used the PC files, not the new remastered files with the HD cars.

If I even got a chance to make a wish I would wish for a dlc of gta 3 with a different protagonist in this town of liberty city having a connection with why the tunnel was block It would be sll amazing if in a cutscene we see Claude destroying the helicopter...

Now that's what I call Upstate. I especially like that invisible Ghost road. Nice touch. Whoever made this, Rockstar should hire em cuz this is what we need for a new remake of GTA III.

The "ghost town" isn't supposed to be the Liberty Upstate, it is just LC in the past (probably Staunton Island around 1994) used for a flashback, that's it.

While I agree it’s not upstate liberty and probably was supposed to be apart of Staunton island, I doubt it’s in the past. Claude is arrested and immediately afterward was in transit to be moved from his hearing to liberty state penitentiary, also in the paper with Claude as the headline, there’s a story on Luigi’s pimp activities. Pre 1998 liberty city, Luigi didnt even own the club yet. Given the convoy van is leaving Staunton island and heading into Portland, I feel the ghost town was simply a cut out piece of Staunton and later repurposed for the intro. Keep in mind also most of GTA 3’s development, the airport was supposed to be in Staunton to replicate JFK airport in New York City, but then they moved it to shoreside vale and used Newark airport as reference instead. But I doubt the intro was far from the main time the game takes place.

@@gameroftheyear1000 So Claude was shot by Catalina and day later got immediately healed ? He got shot point blank by two guns in the torso, how much time does it take to heal from that ? Do you know that judgement can be delayed in some cases ? For example : because of a serious injury. In the newspaper they're only talking about the verdict, and I have no problem with the trial taking place in 1998 to the 2000's. For the rest, it was pretty interesting, didn't know these development facts. 👍 But talking about Luigi owning the club or not, still is pretty irrelevant, LCS wasn't planned or written when GTA3 was in development.

@@gameroftheyear1000 The ghost town is meant to be part of a city called "Carcer City", the newspaper cutout shown in the game about Claudes arrest says they were robbing a bank in Carcer city @thelargesmoke4197

@@rtmclean484 which part? I couldn’t find it. I’m not saying I don’t believe you but I genuinely couldn’t find it. The other reason I have a hard time believing this is because Claude is in transit from a holding jail on Staunton island, that’s where the convoy van is leaving from, the police station in Staunton and he’s on his way to prison, not jail. Now the other thing that mystifies me is the liberty state pen prison clothes. Okay since liberty city is based off of New York City, liberty can be the state and carcer city is in it. But there is never another mention of it. No I think, being that Rockstar games were in NYC at the time, that the bank was based off the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC which seeing all the alterations the map went through, it’s safe to assume, just like how JFK was supposed to be on Staunton until they moved it to Shoreside Vale, which in turn made it based off of Newark Airport. I’m still convinced this was just a reused part of the map that was cut out. Like I said I don’t want to peg you as wrong, this is just my own interpretation.
