I play only Magyars for past two weeks, and I stick to the 15 vills plan plus a DIY 19 PoP MAA Into Scouts Into Mess build disorder and I rose to solid 700 Elo in no time. What I found interesting is that opponents at this level seem to really struggle against early aggression and this may be exacerbated by the fact that seeing Magyars they expect Scouts, not MAA, so the aggro comes two minutes sooner. It is also possible that at this level we simply die to every fart, so my brilliant plan is less stellar and it's all about our ineptness...

​@@alexandrbatora9674 Honestly, at 700 elo I'd say most people would get too overwhelmed and just throw the game or straight up resign if a wolf/lion aggros their economy too soon for whatever reason. On the long run, I'd say it's more important for you to clean up and tighten your dark/early feudal economy and master the basics until it's second nature to you, before worrying too much about aggression for some quick points. That being said, if this is working for you, go ahead and keep doing it (until it doesn't work anymore, then adapt). Edit: just want to add that this is coming from someone who doesn't really follow build orders and wings it just about every game, so if getting too robotic and bureaucratic is the problem for you guys, my advice is to suck it up and first master some build orders to get a good grasp of the balance and flow of things and _then_ start improvising and adapting your own builds from there.

@@ssssdsdddbb Yes, true words! At around 700 I already noticed that people don't freak out once the three or four militia run into their base. While at 500-600 I was able to kill a few vills because the opponent didn't either know what to do or even completely missed that something bad is happening, at 800 elo ppl easily defend against drush. And while I was able to fire-and-forget the men-at-arms into the eneny berries and let them wreak havoc, now I need to micro them, lest the opponent fights them with villagers. I like the change. I still try to use the maa simply because Magyars have the free Forging bonus, and because the attack is the best defense, but I think that maybe I'll need to change the approach soon. Also, the ppl down at 400-600 range were easy to fool (distract them with a Scout attack, few seconds later start the maa assault), and our Elo didn't really match: I knew what to do, I had a basic plan, and I did stick to it. They were forced to react and even if they had some plan, it was disrupted. edit: Speaking of clear Dark/Feudal: just yesterday I wanted to try the Scouts BO, and I had such a messy Dark/Feudal that I abandoned the plan after the 2nd scout due to the opponent being walled. Then I had a hole in my wall, and enemy scouts ran into my base. I managed to somehow repel them with several losses, while trying to go straight Knights. I attacked the enemy in Castle Age, and when he tried to fend off the knights with spearmen, he opened the gate and my cavalry just ran into his base. Now the game was messy af, so I went into Imp, built a line of four castles, massed Hussars, M. Huszars, and CAs, trebbed down his buildings and build like 30 stables to spam him to death. He defended more than solidly and only after another three castle drops, several hundred Hussars dead, and two hours of in-game time, I was able to overcome him. Morale? Adapt, I guess... :-)

This guide is already premade so i cant change anything in future episodea. I can however give u a few tips. When u get attacked try to remain calm and only pull back the few vils in danger (or fight back with vils if its drusb or couple scouts) and then use ur army or walls to defend. Then after the raid, check alll ur idles and fix eco befoe moving on to the next thing

I had the same problem and what helped me is to play vs 2 hard ai at the same time but only defend, let them attack you from two fronts and try to last long.... it really improved my defence i don’t panic anymore in ranked games sometimes i keep my military away to raid and defend with vills

@@rickychardzz ooo thanks for the idea i will have to give this a try! Defending is hardest thing for me so ill focus on just that in some bot games or 1v1 with friends

If you have the chance and know someone solid (I would say 1300+ in 1v1), who can play different strategies, play against them and let them explain you, what went wrong. I came back to the game after a year. Im very slow and recognize enemy build orders too late. But Im doing progress. A few weeks of training and Im back at 1200 elo as before.

I am by far no expert but what I do is stop making scouts, get up to castle age asap and be annoying with my scouts, running around and hitting walls to force reactions and distract 🤷‍♀️ Also scouting the map is a good idea imo

@@benelotus8205 towering is not the right move for fast castle. You need the 200 stone to pop down 2 more TC when getting up to castle age, and putting up a tower on a woodbine basically does nothing because enemy can just move to another woodline

This is the difference between playing to learn and playing for fun. If you read up on what to do and practice these build orders you won't be 900 elo for long. Just playing for fun is a much slower process

I made 21 pop a while ago. I do have 19 pop but it only wprks with civs like franks lithu mongols, 20 pop is more reasonable tho so use thatif ur more comfortable with it

@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Ahh okay, so generally speaking a eco bonus focused on food allows for faster up times? Would it make sense to go 19 pop scout rush with britons (sheep bonus - food eco bonus) as a suprise tactic? Also how do you "construct" the build orders, just by trial and error or is there theorycrafting behind it, like adding the production times, resource gathered, etc on paper? Thank you for taking time to answer the different questions :)

I think that 20 Pop BO is doable thanks to the cheaper Scouts: this bonus doesn't help in reaching Feudal, of course, but ​ Hera could have had enough wood+food for buildings+scouts even with one less villager; and yes, I meant Hera could try that, but I doubt that 1200 Elo guy can pull it. Otoh, I may be wrong, and maybe a mere one deer or some fix to the wood/food eco after clicking up would make the trick?

I cover the 1 range skirm build later. I do recommend it if u cant fully wall. Its a good middle transition to keep u safe!

This is very good argument, and I'd love to see such a series! One thing to note, though: Hera would need to somehow simulate the lack of apm of an appropriate elo, and I really cannot think how to do that. He played with only two hotkeys in the past video, and it was kinda realisitc, but now we may see how insane his apm is.

@@alexandrbatora9674 He managed to do that quite well in the original series. Perhaps more important is the skill of the opponent. As he climbed the ladder in that series, you could see his opponents getting better as well: they started to make better counters, they would try a tower rush, they would lame his boar, etc. and then he explained how to react to that.

While going uo to feudal you should have 8 vills on wood and rest on food to afford scout production

I'm somewhere around 850 and people play like this regularly. I can play like this perfectly one game, then the next I'll make 1 mistake and it all goes tits up immediately and I'll suddenly get over run. I think the biggest difference between 850 and 1300's is consistency going by how 1300 streamers play

Britons don't have any counter to Skirms / Rams or Arb/Ram pushes. If you have a cav civ, you can hussar raid Britons to death

Wall in your lumbercamp and mining camp vs the scouts build a few spears if you need them or maybe you can defend with archers or own scouts counter attack with your scouts/archers, send 1 or 2 spears with them so you can take favorable trades vs his scouts, go back to your base if you went crossbow if the gets to castle before you to save your army in castle you should be walled, so vs knights you can go crossbows behind walls (but then you need to gain some advantage in eco or you have the civ advantage for lategame) and you can add monks to counter the knights, if enemy goes really ham with knight production you can also add pikes in mid castle age but dont just go straight into pikes, they are easily countered and you can be overrun by you enemy, so you need to wait untill he is committed into knights.

It is more like what Hera thinks is most important. That comes first, but imo not exact tied to the elo range. .(I'm 1111elo im 1v1) As always learn whatever you like to focus on. It'll propably help. 11

If map/civ allowes it: the earlier you get up, the earlier you raid the opponent is always better. :-)

I think it also depends on whether you want to wall on the way up or when you are in feudal - with 20 pop you can wall after you built the stable, with 21 you are able to wall on the way up with 1 vill and still get enough ressources
