Great idea! I downloaded the app and I’m sure it be a great help in the future. Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it, but while the top and bottom angles are relative to the 90º corners as are the miter saw settings relative to the 90º angle of the blade. However, the angles between the braces at the center are relative to 180º. So to get the miter saw setting you have to subtract the app suggested C angle from 90º. As in your video the app gave a C angle of 63.3º so you set your miter saw to 26.7 º. 90º - 63.3º = 26.7º.

Can you make those notches without a sliding miter saw, just a compound bevel miter saw?

Doable but a little more work. The curve of the blade will leave some wood on either edge of the board you would need to chisel out.

I do. I've tried the tablesaw with a dado stack, but depending on the angle it can be a hassle. It's just quicker for me to use the miter saw.

Awesome app, which I dowloaded today and was very happy with the results on my first x ends table legs. However, I'm wanting to make a coffee table where the width of the table is quite narrow. That creates - on your app - very acute angles on the cross. It's difficult to cut those on mitre saw, because they're in the middle of the workpiece, rather than at the end. If I create a jig to cut acute angles (45 degrees off the back fence), that's fine for the ends of the pieces, but not for the middle because the chop saw doesn't reach out far enough. Any ideas on how I might solve this problems?
@RonniesWorkshop
@RonniesWorkshop 4 ай бұрын
Maybe a jig like I use at about the 45 second mark of this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e8eYnc2FzM2YpJs.html The jig is at 45 degrees angle to you just move the blade to the right the additional degrees you need. Make sure the blade only goes half way down the piece. With the toggle clamps holding it in place it is a safe cut. I hope this helps. I think I got what you were asking but if not, maybe clarify a little more. Good luck!
@ngomediaLIVE
@ngomediaLIVE 4 ай бұрын
Thank you. This has given me an idea, so ace. My main question is about getting the cuts in the middle of the cross - the intersection - not at the ends. But like I say, I think with a thick 45 degree plank, I can do it - my legs are probably just the right size. Any longer, and I'd have to use a table saw with a jig. Thanks again.@@RonniesWorkshop

@@torilaumb9648 hi Tori, the issue has been resolved with the measurement options. Uninstall and reinstall on your phone (it won’t charge you again) and you’ll be all set. I’ve tested the fix and it works as intended now. As for wanting the start and stop, the first step will allow you to select which configuration of the X braces you would like. Apart from that you just measure height and depth (assuming your work is ~square and enter the thickness of your material and everything pops up for you like a charm. Hope this helps. Enjoy your woodworking! Scott

Hi I just bought the app today. Have few questions and some recommendations on your videos. 1. at 2.03 it shows A,B,C,D. however in your videos, you showed only b : 31.6 and C : 63.3. however you have nt showed 58.4 and D 116.7. appreciate if you can give some clarity on this, your picture shows A is 63.3 but however u used 31.6 and cut it on both side.. quite confusing.. pls note i am newbie... have made drawers, cabinets but not good on angles.. Appreciate your feedback. 2. Also you know that 116.7 cant be cut in miter, usually there is a workaround, you can add littel tip in your app.. Thanks
@RonniesWorkshop
@RonniesWorkshop 2 ай бұрын
The picture for "A" is actually 58.4, not 63.3. The angles shown are for the spaces and orientation of the braces. For the braces each end adds up to 90 total degrees. There is one listed for the toe side of the brace and one for the heel side of the brace. I typically find the toe side one is the one the saw is actually set to. The intersection angles add up to 180 degrees. Again, not necessarily for saw setting. For me, it is easiest to line up the braces and draw the intersection lines like I do in the video. Sorry it was confusing. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@sivucit
@sivucit 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your reply it is still confusing. Your pictures shows shows 58.4 for A for miter adding 31.6 makes to 90. So you set the saw at 31.6 fto cut the top brace . But for bottom that is B I don’t think you changed the angle

Can you pls advise how do Iu cut 116.7. Will you add x to bring to 180 and set that x angle in miter. Pls redo this video with all this questions clarified pls

@@sivucit Correct. The angle cut will be the same on each end of the brace.
