Beautiful work, very well done and a great inspiration to try it myself

This was really interesting. I liked that a "real" working engine was shown and then you showed the "how to" on the model engine. It made the process very clear. Thank you!

Agreed...pictures tell one story, but the actual "why" is incredibly useful. And I don't have any steam locos lol!

Beautiful locomotive! Tempting, but I just ordered 1 more. Tip, for shiny metal I recommend powdered grafite. You can wash it off later, if you change your mind. Paint an item metal colour @ just before it dry ," polish" it with grafite. Very pleasing results.

Nice to see such good weathering carried out with no airbrush in sight. I will try on my Q1 loco.

Excellent as usual, Martin! Weathering from the prototype is always the best approach. Cheers from Wisconsin!

Wonderful as usual Martin. A great guide for anyone who wants to weather their models. A simple and effective video. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Lovely loco and well done. We are particularly very impressed by Lilliput’s modelling of the E2 as well. We’ve not yet found the courage of weathering any rolling stock, since we lack the practice. However, some exercise someday will be undertaken of course, and this is very inspirational. Well done, and thank you for sharing.

This is a really nicely made video -- I love the comparison between the real locomotive and the model. You did a really good job of the weathering, too.

Why is one buffer rounded and the other flat?
@DB--lv6tt2 жыл бұрын
Two options: 1) two flat one's In a curve the buffers will touch only on the outer edge, even in a light curve 2) two rounded one's On a straight track the buffers want too slip sidewards and creates a force in 90° too the track.

Aaalllll right... :) YOU animate me to weather my very first locomotive ever. I have an LGB 99 5001 ("The Little Chubby One") and I will try it. :) It's old, it's broken, parts are missing, it's just a "try-and-error-object". Got it for a few bucks. First I will try with ink, so I can remove it to try again and again, before I try it at my well digitalized 99 6001 and my 2067 diesel-locomotive. Would be happy if I can send you my result, just to get some tips, how to make things better. :) Thanks a lot for your videos!

Your loco weathering video was wonderful and i have a question on the paint grimy oil 502, where may I find that color to buy? thank you for your videos.
@marklinofsweden5 ай бұрын
Hi Johnny, Thank you! Grimy oil 502 is a product from Spanish company "Abteilung". You find it on-line and in the hobby shops.

Martin, As always well done. I noted that you installed a smoke generator. Would be interested in knowing more about that. I installed the same smoke generator in my first (and only) steamer. It just doesn't generate smoke for very long, like maybe a minute or two. Later in the video you have the steamer traveling around the layout and seems to be smoking all along the way. Did you continue to add fluid or is this all from one "dose" of fluid. From what little I've heard about these are that they don't work that well. Thoughts?

Great job! Can you instal close couplers?

No.. In fact I gave up on this locomotive. It just kept de-railing so I sold it.
