I use track stacks for summing. I don’t remember ever using the folder option although it does make a lot of sense when you explain it in the way that you did. Quick question: If you put say all your drum tracks in a folder stack and export as individual files, will they save them all automatically in an individual folder?

hi, I have a question that I hope you can clear up. Can you do individual sends from within a track stack? For example when mixing strings, I was individual sends for the reverb on each track, so I can have less reverb on the shorts and more on the longs etc. I want to be able to do this, but have them within a summing stack so I can mix them together. Currently when I do this the sends do not work at all, and individual reverb sends only work within a folder stack - but then I can't edit them together afterwards! Is this possible to make aux sends on the individual tracks and still group them as a summing track stack? I can't work out how! Thanks in advance

First off thanks for the video. 2ndly. I have a question. I created a summing stack to control 3 different audio sources but every time I try to turn the summing stack volume down I can still hear the instrument. There’s no reverb or anything on it. It’s dry EXCEPT for the fact it came from omnisphere. Tried burning it into the track and everything and it’s still not quieting unless I click the individual track. Any solutions to this? Thanks again. Oh and it works on a different 3 instruments in the same session so I know it’s not a session thing.

Hey, great vid. I'd like to hear more about how you export your midi-heavy sessions out to audio track for mixing. I'm working on a full orchestra session and will be ready to mix shortly. BTW: I'm using the Spitfire BBC Orchestral I first saw here! Sounds like a real orchestra - I love it.
@NathanJamesLarsen
@NathanJamesLarsen 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah man - so you'd basically export everything to a separate folder and open a blank session and pull everything into that session as audio only. So File > Export > exports all tracks as audio I believe
@TyRobertsmedia

@@NathanJamesLarsen Thanks... I'll give it a try. My mix so far is very light on plugins, but the track count is up there as BBC (free version) doesn't have keyboard based articulations... lol. Mixing classical music is gonna be a trip compared to pop/rock mixes - heavy on dynamic and very light on compression.

Not sure what Paul is referring to, since I respond to almost every comment. Also I don't have a patreon, but ok. I actually find his comment quite hilarious and seriously uniformed. When it comes to exporting, if you export all tracks, it will also export the track stacks and the rest of the individual tracks too. So you should actually select the tracks you want to export and then you can export only the selected tracks. It's under File > Export > export selected tracks - I can make a video on it down the road that'll explain that better.
@GirishHothur
@GirishHothur 3 жыл бұрын
@@NathanJamesLarsen Thank you so much for the quick response :) Selecting the tracks and exporting does make a lot of sense, however, all the processing on the bus would be gone right? Anyways won't bother you much here if you making a video on it :)
@NathanJamesLarsen
@NathanJamesLarsen 3 жыл бұрын
@@GirishHothur It depends on how you go about settings - you can bypass all effects or not bypass them by unselecting "bypass all effects" -- another way of doing this is by what's called "printing" a track by bouncing the audio down to its own new audio file within Logic with the plugins that you want still on. So basically that audio will have the plugins just baked in at that point. That's what I do so there is not confusion. No worries, Girish, I don't mind questions at all.
@brunocoliveira89

I have a problem with this and maybe you should check that out: I use summing stacks to rout my instrument tracks. Because of my current memory constrains, I developed the habit of having deactivated (instrument) tracks within my template. My goal is to only activate tracks on the go while composing. This way I can save RAM and processing. However, when I click on the summing stack, all the subordinate tracks in that stack will activate! That means If I have an entire string section with different articulations, this will actually bust my ram and my computer will pass out. This occurs even when I go to Project preferences and check “Only activate plugins needed for the project”.

It depends on how you do it but if you want someone else to mix you probably don't want to be using sends unless you are using a summing track stack - which then will create a whole separate track for your bus that it'll bounce out. That's the best way I'd recommend
