Dude im not even an ironworker Im a 20 year old residential painter & theres so much knowledge in your vids that its super easy for me to adapt some of these techniques to painting. Thanks brother & I hope your week is going well. Keep working safely... as a young guy I hadn’t seen ‘the right way’ to work until i stumbled across you. Enough rambling from me haha. Thanks again for all the help bro.

JIW out of local 86. That's a lot of work for a bucket and if that's what wishes for you than great. Like you said in the video: customize your tools. I'm typically a misc or production welder and i like to keep my buckets simple, as i make them on site and leave them when the job ends. Main difference in my buckets is how i do my rope strap. I live to do mine up vertically so i can sling it over my shoulder comfortably. I usually find the thickest rope i can and double it up. Cheers brother, and stay safe up there!

Great video im a local 92 ironworker birmingham alabama you forgot cheater nuts ,sleever bar 6 lb wilton bash, small strip of pipe wrap for handrail ,a bucket lid cushion seat eliminates the need for knee pads, vise grip locking pliers, channel locks, tin snips for cutting rope and bands, head lamp ,flashlight, baby spud crescent, 1/2 inch drive spud ratchet , baby 6 inch trisquare for small i beam layout , leatherman super tool, keep up the good ironworker content!

I been working for a fab shop for the last 7 years. We build joist and girders and decking. I travel to a bunch of job sites in the last few years from one end to the country to the other. Most the time I roll up to do engineering mods or fix whatever problem we run into during the erection process. I’ve learned a ton by working directly with iron workers and have great respect for them. They have taught me little tips and tricks and one of my favorite is the tool bucket lol. I built one and use it everyday wether in the shop or on any given job site it goes everywhere with me.

I have something similar. I'm a union electrician, I snagged one of those tall orange buckets from the iron workers that hold nuts. I put foam padding on the lid and drilled some holes in the handles and tied 2 nooses through the holes for a rope handle and BAM. I love it. Nice video

I'm hitting the harware store today and picking up a few things to modify this for my job. I am a welder and I see so much value in this for the stuff I need throughout my day. We are always going back and forth around the facility and I do waste a lot of time because i don't have everything i need at all times. I could bolt a bracket or two to hang my mini tool box on the side of it, for instance. Thanks for the vid and keep 'em efficient!

Slick use of U-bolts! Imma do my ammo can similarly to keep the heavy shit off the bottom. EDIT 2022: I tacked simple T-handles to all my Visegrip adjustment knobs (mostly ~4" long x 5/16" bolts with head left on) at a slight angle so I can spin them with my palm while wearing welding gloves. Works a treat leaving the other hand free to position the clamp and offers MUCH more applied force than a manual squeeze so less risk of RSI. You can also lift and drag lighter or hot steel by the T-handle comfortably. I hit the screw threads with anti-seize so if they get wet the threads don't rust. BTW I've had a bunch of Leathermans in the Air Force and find the 300 MUT more capable than smaller Leathermans. Heavier and bulkier and worth it. Welding hood tip, put a clear lens on each side of your tinted lens and when the outboard lens gets trashed you're already wearing the spare. (Credit to my pipeliner instructor Cowboy Stephens for that one). While you don't need all the stuff in that bucket at once the sooner ya get yours outfitted the nicer life will be. Keep an eye on your bucket so it stays YOUR bucket. Stuff grows wings on job sites...

Really Nicetry yeah I’m union, I don’t understand why others work non union...? I feel like the money and the benefits speak for themself, plus the brotherhood is tight, why do you work non union what’s the benefits?

nothing wrong with union. like a motherfuckerr told me pension better than no pension,,but shitt tommorow ain't promise to Mee!! I rather chase the hook on a shutdown clocking 3000 to 3500 hundred a week any day n make my own pension as I see fit..after running the road for so long u bump into the same motherfuckers n look out for each other as far as jobs and in the field so the brotherhood is pretty close too..I don't really care who I work for they're all the same n the end,,just have my check..at the end of the day a mans just trying to fucking eat,,fuck the bullshit...give'em hell boys!! N remember if u can't find center,, put it in the middle
