Thanks for this advice! Awesome video. I have a 40 gallon column tank with live rock and just one fish right now. The tank is 10 years old and has had numerous fish. In March we had a devastating ammonia plume kill everything. Which is why we just have the lone pink dottyback now. My question is how can I encourage more coraline algae growth?

I have always had trouble with big tanks. Keeping it simple is the best. Don't be afraid of 100 percent water changes!

I've found a 40-50 gallon tank has been a nice sweet spot between too big to easily manage and too small where things fluctuate quickly. That said, water changes still aren't the easiest thing lol

Ryan, definitely do it! "It's easier to stay up than it is to get up." Once you get past the initial investment, it really is no harder than a freshwater setup.

Im currently going through dinos, and regardless if its a small tank or large tank the shit is annoying as hell lol currently trying to dose phosphate and nitrates.
@WMChaseB4 жыл бұрын
What are you fighting it with? I am currently getting over dinos on my waterbox 20. I found so far dosing hydrogen peroxide after a blackout to be the most successful.
@marcelrodriguez20674 жыл бұрын
@@WMChaseB i didnt wanna use peroxide just for the risk on corals ( i dont wanna lose any corals lol) what is working great for me is to dose neophos and neonitro to keep nutrients at NO3 5ppm and PO at 0.10, i also scrub the rocks at night with a toothbrush and turkey baster the sand while putting a 1 micron sock on the the return. The dinos tend to float in the air at night and they cant get through a 1 micron sock. Ive only been doing this for 5 days and dinos are almost gone. Had to be aggressive with the phosphate though as the numbers just didnt wanna come up from 0.

Nice spotlight and beautiful tank. It’s a myth that bigger tanks are easier than little tanks. Generally bigger tanks require much more time and equipment to maintain. Unfortunately, this school of thought continues to be perpetuated in the hobby, which may deter some from starting in the hobby with something very manageable in the nano tank size range.

@@cuzz287 Search on KZfaq "clown fish jump out of tank" I had one jump out of my tank and it had a lid. It had a small gap at one end. Why take the chance. ? Lids are cheap way to prevent this. Or don't and one day find Nemo dried up on the floor.
