Those haywire twists are very compact! Are you twisting them by hand or using a tool like the Dubro?

Yes, works great for slow trolling too. A treble hook will work, just prefer the cleaner presentation of a j hook.

For the stinger do you use a stif wire? What number?

Yes we use traditional single strand wire. #6 or #7 wire

Jamie can you list out the wire to purchase. I both 50lb test wire and it would not bend easily. It seemed to keep flexing back to original shape. I got the hooks you recommended but I guess the wrong wire. Please help... Thanks John U

Sounds like you might have been using titanium wire which is not what you want for that stinger rig. You need traditional stainless wire leader. It’s brown in color. I prefer #7 size wire. American fishing wire is a good brand

It was titanium. I tried wire but it was stranded not single solid wire. Can I use trolling wire to make stinger rigs?

The lead hook is just inserted through the opening on the eye of the stinger and then through the bridge of the nose on the bait

not sure this technique would be as effective with mullet. Their skin is scaly. It's worth a shot though.

Incorrect statement. Been fishing this rig for decades with great success as have most of the top fishing teams in South FL. If rigged properly it swims better than a bait with a stinger rig outside the skin
