Welcome back to BodeVision! In today's episode, join me in the second installment of our series as we dive deep into the restoration of my 1965 GMC 25 work truck. The focus? The powerhouse itself - a Chevy Small Block 350!
The journey kicks off with a thorough cleaning session using a pressure washer and degreaser, not just for the engine but for the entire truck inside and out.
Once squeaky clean, it's time to roll up the sleeves and embark on the motor rebuild adventure. Watch as I carefully disassemble the heads, replacing all the valve seals. Don't miss out on the ingenious custom tool I use for the job, providing an in-depth look at the valve removal, re-lapping, and reinstallation process.
Moving on to general maintenance, we tackle crucial components like the timing chain, water pump, and a complete overhaul of the oil system - oil pan, pickup tube, and oil pump. Uncovering the motor's past surprises, we find oversized pistons and upgraded valve springs, revealing a history of previous modifications.
We finish off the video as I meticulously assemble the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. Witness the custom bell housing, and learn the intricacies of setting up a hydraulic throw-out bearing. The culmination of hard work and dedication to building a work truck that makes absolute sense.
If you're as passionate about truck restoration as I am, hit that like button, drop a comment with your thoughts, and don't forget to subscribe for more BodeVision content. Stay tuned for the next chapter in the transformation of this 1965 GMC 25 into a powerhouse workhorse! #BodeVision #TruckRestoration #SmallBlock350 #ClassicTruckBuild

I really enjoy that you do things on a budget. So many builds on KZfaq are just a parts buying spree that run mid 5 to low 6 figures. Your stuff… anyone not allergic to hard work and getting a bit dirty can pull off. It’s just really about not being afraid to fail/ask for help and finding the motivation to get out there and do it.

Dude, this build is gonna be yours, who cares what others think! Make the truck dependable, reliable, functional & then add the shop touches! One thing I do know is the suspension on these older GMC's & Chevy's rode like bricks so I'm interested to see how you're gonna handle that part as well as detail the rest of it so it fits your style and functions for your business! Might also want to consider power steering. Especially since you have a manual transmission that will take away from two handing the steering.... Super excited for you!
@BodeVision

My 1968 f250 was manual and no power steering and it wasn’t to bad at all especially when moving. It was actually a fun vehicle to drive, almost like dancing around the truck to make to function lol. We’ll see how this one turns out and I can definitely make changes along the way

Adam , I think that mite be a one ton truck ( I believe 3/4 ton had trailing arms in the rear ? ) I have a 67 chevy 3/4 ton that is my work truck , when I rebuild it (it took two years ) I wish I would have put it on a late model chassis this way I would have modern power steering and Disk brakes a boxed factory frame newer rear axle Ect Ect , after I spent a lot of money on the old frame I discovered it had a little twist in the frame rail so off to a body shop for a little pull here and a little pull there . learn from my mistake you will have a better truck in the end .. Thanks for taking the time to make these video's
@BodeVision

According to the vin data base stuff it’s a 3/4 ton truck but I know that stuff can be iffy at best. Also it has a Dana 60 rear end.
