If you are thinking about buying this, the only thing you need to look at is at 7:20. The backlight bleeding is insufferable on every individual of this TV. It's not even a lottery, it's a fact.

great update :) im going from Lg Oled`s and i really want ambilight, and tbh i think 77inch oleds are to expencive. and atm there is an xtra9009 model 85 inch on "sale" here in denmark for 2277euro expencive yes but not for that size. got a couple of days to decide :) Thanks for the review

Привет из России. Хороший обзор. У меня 75pml9008 , в связке с Panasonic ub900 изображение класс . Телевозор очень яркий, часто приходиться уровень серного делать на 43-47 . При таких параметрах уровня чёрного изображение становиться практически как на oled . Больше всего понравился режим calman , в этом режиме белый-белый и цвета из коробки настроены как мне надо было. У меня регион стоит «Финляндия « , но приложения Apple TV почему то нет. У вас в настройках регион США?

Who the fuck Is telling you that Ambilight is disco like??? Mostly from people that don't own an Ambilight TV. I have a 806 OLED and once Ambilight always Ambilight

Nah I have to do the same power cycle and I don't have a sound bar as I have the version with the b&w bar built in. I love this TVs image quality the builtin B&W sound with sub is great but man did they mess up with the whole os and this weird set of bugs. It's very annoying.

Is there light leakage on the panel? How well does local dimming work?

The local dimming works really well and contains the bleeding in most modes, The only issue with light leakage is on Dolby Vision content when there are large black bars top and bottom of the screen - Hope this helps

My Philips 9008 has major issues with black borders in movies (edge bleeeding). Does your TV also has this problem????

I noticed the bleeding more when in eco mode, Dolby vision content also bleeds at the black edges - I turn up local dimming and it seems to help

@@Mandyglen I have to set local dimming to minimum to get rid of the bleeding. And of course the Ambilight helps.

No ambilight was active, there is a game setting which I didn't switch to - Ambilight works great with gaming

Having to use a smartbox on an upper midrange tv in 2024 is a joke. Philips should be ashamed of themselves. The PML series had a huge potential but this and the power cycle thing are a deal braker.

Have to agree Phillips really messed up allowing whom ever they trusted with this custom OS, makes no sense as to why they tried to roll their own

@Mandyglen Hello, is power cycle issue for all users? I plan to use the TV on a TV provider decoder, so HDMI connection. When I turn the TV on, will it default to HDMI, or do I have to change manually? I belive it is HDMI-CEC technology. Also how bad is the light bleed? When I will watch 16:9 movies with dark edges - for what I will mostly use it, will I be able to see the light bleed?
