Jesus iRiver has come a LONG way in the last ~15 years. I remember getting one of the clunky MP3 players that I wanted so badly for christmas back in like 2005. Now they are ... Astell & Kern aka lawfirm that moonlights in audiophilic hardware lmao.

Its not a long way iriver was great a&k is schit. Slow processors, bad small displays, no streaming apps support[have to use apks] etc etc but sound is good though but still not neutral very v shaped dynamic. So depends what you want. chifi is still better deal.

Now that's placebo! Bluetooth headphones sound the same with phone, dap, etc as long as you use similar codec. So Airpods pro doesn't care if its connected to AK or iPhone. You should use this with some audiophile grade IEM or headphones

It is hobby stuffs mate. It sounds different compared to some ears, mine included. That's the whole reason why brands like walkman or Astell &Kern are still alive to this day. It is not for everyone indeed, like high refresh rate monitor. Fps player would definitely want a high refresh rate monitor, but some casual user wouldn't exactly need that. Hope that analogy works, cheers!
