A new personal stock SPEED RECORD with the ARRMA Senton 3s BLX. How did I do it? ULTIMATE Senton SPEED TEST . It turns out that a lower ESC punch setting runs the car FASTER!

I honestly think it's one of, if not the very best rc for the money and all experience levels. It's not exactly slow either hahaha. Thanks for the comment sir.

For the money, it's probably one of the very best all-rounders you can buy in the entire ground RC world. All the speed you want, all the durability you need, and you don't have to drain your finances to get one.

That's good to know. Interesting car. Certainly goes quick enough for me and the parts and durability are important. @@Rek_Rc

Great video, the Senton body isn't the fastest but I love how it looks on bigger tires. The truck is my favorite.

I think the biggest factor in the speed is that battery, and fresh wheel bearings. But, the punch setting turned down will make the car much more manageable, and in this case faster. But with the punch turned all the way up, it's able to wheelie and has much more control in the air when jumping. I think the higher speed with the punch setting low just comes from being able to manage the car better on the road.

This is so cool how you took the time to experimented with punch settings and log your speeds. Perhaps on a long run you have better control and smoother acceleration on p1 than p5. With a high punch setting the car pulls left and right and if your like me you freak out a bit and let up on the throttle subconsciously. Wild guess, but congrats on the new records. 👍👍
@Rek_Rc
@Rek_Rc 2 жыл бұрын
You're exactly right, I do slightly panic and either let off the throttle or over correct the steering when it pulls. I'm actually about to go to speed run park now as we speak to see if I can pinch another mph or 2 out of it by running 2wd. Not sure if it will work but in theory it should eliminate some parasitic power loss, but it might only make a difference in acceleration, or not. I'm not sure really lol. But we're about to find out.
@RCRoads

@@Rek_Rc I cant wait to see it. I'm not real sure about the reduction in parasitic power loss from the front drive train to the host car but if you say so. Mc2 ... will this be a science experiment or a speed run. Hopefully it all goes well. Here's band aid just in case. ( ̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅ ̲̅]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅ )

I have the Senton 550 mega brushed and I upgraded it to 3s blx motor and esc. I have a 18t pinion on it. How fast do you think it is with that?
@Rek_Rc
@Rek_Rc 7 ай бұрын
With an 18T pinion I imagine it could top 40 MPH pretty easily. Probably wheelies easily too.
@tj_garage
@tj_garage 7 ай бұрын
@@Rek_Rc it’ll wheelie with a 15 that came stock on it. I went up to a 18 to see how it performs. It comes with a 15 on it and an extra 18 and 20 in the box for the upgrade package. I put the 18 on today and the servo melted yesterday so I gotta see once I get a servo in it again. What pinion is on your truck? I take mine off-roading with me in the desert so I still want some power as well as top speed. Does yours still have good power in dirt and/or sand?
@Rek_Rc
@Rek_Rc 7 ай бұрын
@@tj_garage mine has the stock BLX 20T pinion. But if you're taking yours out on rough terrain in hot weather, sticking with the 18T might be the better option, you'll still have plenty of speed, as well as low end grunt, and you'll keep the heat on the motor down a bit from what you'd get with a 20T pinion.

@@Rek_Rcidk, I’ll do some testing and see what works for me. I’d with the 18 it stays cool and work good, I’ll try the 20 and see how that works. Thanks for your help! I just found out about the pinch setting, mine goes up to 6. Learned a lot from thus video, Thanks!

That is really interesting indeed! Awesome video. Have you tried to run it at punch 5 on the fresh battery and then try going back to 1 and then rotating between the two settings a few time to see if there isn't variation between runs, state of charge, or other possible variables? Possibly do the same thing with the bodies? Have you broken any axles in your Arrma 3s? I broke one in my Big Rock (only had about 15 packs through it) and I was annoyed. It was a hot day.... I was thinking they may be more prone to having this issue on hot days when the plastic is softer... IDK. I have never run my at anything other than the stock punch level (3) but am tempted to try 1.... thought I can't do 3s speed runs in it as it is so unstable on pavement lol! What do you think of your Sypom LIPO? Mine absolutely killed it next to me other budget LIPOs. I think your truck is the fastest "stock" 3s I have seen. Awesome runs!
@Rek_Rc
@Rek_Rc 2 жыл бұрын
I've been lucky not to have broken any axels yet which seems like a miracle for how hard I crash the thing all the time. Punch 1 seems to make a much more stable 3s run, as the take off is much more manageable and the power comes on predictably. I actually think that might be why my runs were faster on punch 1, just more manageable throughout and more stable. But to be fair, I did run punch 1 before punch 5 so the battery might have been slightly compromised. But then again I'm not sure because it managed near 57 mph on the same charge on punch 1. But you have given me the idea that I should try it on punch 5 first to make a totally fair comparison. I find that punch 3 on up makes for a really jumpy start, so the first part of the run is spent trying to keep it stable, then as it stabilizes, the run is over lol. The sypom batteries are among the best budget lipo batteries I've ever used. They are reliable, they seem to provide plenty of power, seem last forever per charge, and they also seem to maintain perfect balance per cell too. I love them. Zee are pretty good budget batteries too. That's the 6000 mah 3s I run in the senton.

@@Rek_Rc That so much for the info. So helpful! I am going to try punch 1 for sure now! Sorry, I am not trying to make more work for you but I was curious. Sounds like it may not have been a fluke! You might like my Sypom LIPO test video. It literally had about twice th capacity of my other 4 3s LIPOs and ran about twice as long in a high load test I did in my Big Rock (driving it on grass).

@@BriansRCStuff if you do run punch 1, please make a video of it. I'm really interested to see what results you'll get. You have more technical knowledge than I do, so if there is a difference in speed for you as well, I'd love to hear what you think would be the reason if you get a similar difference in speed from punch 3 or 5, vs 1. So, you doing a video running a low punch would be great. Lol we might stumble onto a small speed run secret lol. That would be cool.

@@Rek_Rc I will give that a try in the next few weeks (and I will give your and your channel credit as I never would have even considered the idea!). I will probably do it first at 2s as it is nice and stable but maybe if I have time I will do 3s too (or a later video) and I think you may be onto something with the weight of the cell phone messing up the handling of my Big Rock! As for my technical knowledge, I know just enough to be dangerous lol.... it is great learning from you too!

more than likely the reason it was slower on punch 5 is because of your battery voltage is dropping to low.

There aren't many options for the senton on tires unless you change the hex size, which is very easy. But, tire choice depends mostly on where and how you drive.
