I had to stay home from the shop today to tend to some business here at the house. So while I was stuck here I figured why not make some BASS! I had a guy working on the property and he asked me WTF it was. He thought it was a train (he was outside). So I may have to mic up my hill and play some of these bass tones or an action scene in a movie just to see what it sounds like outside. Should I? Leave me a comment! And thanks for watching if you did! Link to Exo's video in the desription. Try it and report back!

Full equipment list and links to the install/build videos in the description. Did I mention these subs are UNDERPOWERED? They can handle probably 5kw each and are only being fed 1k each. I'm really wanting to triple the power, JUST FOR FUN. I don't really NEED to. Anyway, I had to stay home from the shop today to tend to some business here at the house. So while I was stuck here I figured why not make some BASS! I had a guy working on the property and he asked me WTF it was. He thought it was a train (he was outside). I been waiting for you to do this type of audio test I have a similar disc... And when it plays certain frequencies I guess it would be what is called the resident frequency of some objects... They either vibrate or start moving 🙂 of course I don't have the air movement that you do from this fantastic speaker you created. I used 2 12 inch subwoofers, tied to a multi-channel amp at 140 W per channel... It's absolutely way more than I need when they are tied to my full range speakers, but when it comes to playing movie time I like having the adjustability to dial things in just for movies that's when the subwoofers come into play for the most part. Just one impressive demonstration you have shown us.

Been there, done that myself when I was in college using my newly purchased (used of course, but "new" to me), Carver power amp and dual 15" woofer speakers I had at the time. It wasn't quite as insane as your system there, but having the ONLY dorm room that had "flat to 22Hz" and "effective" or useful bass down to about 15Hz, I REALLY enjoyed playing with the audio frequency generator that I had, (STILL have actually), and slowly turning the frequency knob down until literally everything in the room was rattling and/or falling over or down from the shelves and walls, LOL!... We had fun back in those days, that's for SURE! Jurassic Park was awesome with that setup, along with numerous other action and sci-fi movies! I'd still love to hear (AND FEEL) your system there though, that's impressive down to 10Hz or so! BTW, where did you find that subwoofer frequency test video or DVD, etc. that goes from 100Hz ALL the way down to 1Hz? That's awesome! I've never seen anything like that before. Where or how could I get that too, so that I don't always have to have my frequency generator with me everywhere I want to test speakers?

I'm pretty sure most modern amps have a cut-off at around 10 hertz. Because I have a very old denon avr 2600 that seems to go down to 1 hertz whereas my crown xls 2502 goes down to 10 hertz. So it's not just the speakers but the amp that determines how low it can go

Lab Gruppen FP series and their clones are pretty flat to to 2-3hz. The -3db rolloff point of powersoft amplifiers is 5hz which is also really good. Very few PA and home theaters amplifiers have usable response that low.

My friend told me that larger subwoofers can play down deeper. I guess 10-15hz was pretty good or decent for a giant subwoofer this size. They can handle 5k watts and you’re feeding them with 1k? Doesn’t underpowered amplifiers cause clipping and eventually damage the speakers or subwoofers? Do you know Steve?
@meade916
@meade916 25 күн бұрын
almost all sub sizes can play deep. Lots of cone area makes it a little easier to get the large amount of output that you may not get from a smaller sub. For instance one 33" sub is close to 7 12" subs. As for the underpowered thing, that is a myth. IF that was the case you couldn't use a volume knob and turn it down ever LOL. People that have underpowered subs tend to want more and they push their AMP too hard, which can cause clipping. But that has nothing to do with being underpowered. That is being underpowered, while gains set incorrectly and asking too much of your amp.

The only upgrade would be a rotary subwoofer. This, on my trusted scale, has an extremely low (ha, low)WAF , or wife approval factor. Find a mate who loves it as much as you and bliss And Costco sells hearing aids in bulk. After 52 years of this kinda abuse, my cochlea is cooked.
@meade916
@meade916 28 күн бұрын
a rotary wouldn't be an upgrade, these 33's can handle everything on their own. My wife doesn't mind in fact she benefits from it because she gets to use it every day. Your ears aren't cooked from home audio. If you are a rock star standing in front of stacks of monitors for 30 years, yes. But Nothing you have ever owned in your house is loud enough to hurt you.

@@KD2HJP firearms is understandable. That is more likely to cause damage to your ears without protection. As far as subs, your idea of "ridiculous spl's" and mine are probably not the same. Even then, the bass isn't what does it. If anything, the highs are way worse for your hearing.

But why?😁 Why 33" there are subs out there that are much better but in a smaller package, is it because it`s in your nature as an American? Because you guys need to have the biggest stuff no matter what....

@@kawasaki1279 because it is fun. You don't understand that term because it is probably banned where you live. What subs are "better in a much smaller package"? You don't know because this subject is totally out of your realm. You have ONE lonely video of you playing some stupid app on your busted up phone. To answer your question, yes it is in my nature as an AMERICAN to work hard and have nice things. You are just upset because you WISH you were an American. Instead, you have a photo of someone else's motorcycle as your avatar and a dream. Your dictator won't allow you to have anything else.
