I want to share my experience. I tried freelance websites for years but got nothing out of them (I have to admit that I also didn't try well and had less experience designing than now) but last week I decided I had enough trying to pursue clients in my city and started on Upwork. I had nothing to lose. For the first 2 days nothing happened, but then I came across this channel, and the results speak for themselves: I just finished my first contract today and I am already in conversations for the second with a new client. Just because I followed these steps and wrote proposals consciously. It has just been 6 days since I signed in. I don't even have a big portfolio.

I can not believe this video is real. Imagine randomly clicking on a youtube video one night and finding EXACTLY what you struggled to find reading tonnes of tips and tricks blog posts. Thank you for making the world a better place and for believing in people!

I have been working for nearly three years on Upwork as a secondary option, the primary being Fiverr. Now that Fiverr is no longer getting me enough work, I am working to shift over to Upwork. Although Top-Rated, I never got the hang of writing Cover Letters and relied on Projects and invitations to get work. Your video is amazing! Hey Evan, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate it because these tutorials are at a time where I actually NEED to make this happen. My short story for context: I am from Canada but decided to make the move to South Korea in September after not being happy where I was and wanted to change. I landed a fully remote work gig that paid out nicely and I was actually enjoying the work. Things were looking bright and I was pumped to make the jump to being a digital nomad. Well, three days before my flight out of Canada I got called into a meeting with HR and was told that it would not be possible to move abroad and work for the company. This was a huge blow as I sold almost everything I had, threw out 25 years of artwork, gave up my comfy apartment and was about to leave a great friendship with a 10 year roommate. The company told me that I had two days to decide my fate with the organisation - I chose to quit and follow my dreams. Now I am in South Korea and really enjoying where I am. However, rent and food isn't free and money is slowly but surely running out. In about a month and a half I'll be on the streets in Seoul if I don't come up with some results. So I have started various online side hustles and reopened my old Upwork account (has some gig experience and five star reviews). I have watched several of your tutorials on how to succeed on Upwork and also looked at your course site and honestly I am impressed. I just purchased your MVP Upwork course and will be going through the videos starting today. I understand that success won’t happen overnight but now is the time to start for me. Since this video come out, every time I write a proposal, I come back and listen to it, trying to really nailing the perfect voice and tone to address my client needs. It is a great help. In my niche I'm luck if I can send one or two proposals / day, I'm also following Evan's comment to vetting the jobs/clients I'm sending proposals for. I got the gut feeling that this is the right approach, I started to ping previous clients if they can provide measurable metrics - but that is a challenge, because I do get companies certified by certain standards and it is hard to measure if that is directly impacting their sales or not... Thanks Evan, again! The course is great also!

This is not the first time I considered UpWork for freelance because the first time I did it, it was exactly what Evan said - I didn't write enough proposals because I went into "analysis paralysis". I created my account 7 years ago on upwork and just recently got a first order basically because during those years i developed my skills and finally became experienced enough to send proposal now i just need to keep on going. InshaAllah I will reach that level.

I just used the Question system as a response to an invite for interview, and hopefully, the hire will happen after the clients provides more info from the queries I presented. It's looking up. I simply wrote a quick list of 4 questions based on the one sentence the client had written on the job post. Lol. Thank you very much.
