Same for me. The dichotomy of Kirby and the whiskey tribe is pretty big to be honest. Yet the fact that they can converse and bond over whiskey is both amazing and honorable imho.

@@dennisblogg Totally agree! Plus it's good for business. Many crossovers on KZfaq consist of two channels with a very similar/shared audience. This is almost a complete fresh set of eyes for both channels.

This is great. Two of my favorite channels collaborating. The whiskey equivalent for the reindeer leather story could be the Shackleton's Blended Malt Scotch Whisky. To bolster team spirit on his Antarctic expedition (Nimrod, 1907), Sir Ernest Shackleton personally ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky. In 2007, a century after the expedition, three cases of the perfectly preserved whisky were discovered, frozen into the ice beneath Shackleton’s base camp at Cape Royds. The whisky was excavated and flown to New Zealand where it was carefully thawed by the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust in a purpose-built environment and public gallery at Canterbury Museum. After its discovery frozen in the ice, world renowned Master Blender, Richard Paterson, carried out painstaking analysis to re-create this antique whisky, and used this as the foundation to create Shackleton - a modern Blended Malt with ice in its DNA. Whiskey is all about stories...

This is a great video. Love the discussion and insight as always. I live in Tennessee and there has been an explosion of craft Tennessee Whiskey distilleries opening since 2009 when the state made it legal for an additional 40+ counties to distill spirits. I'm hoping to at some point send Rex and Daniel some of my favorite Whiskey's from these distilleries to review. I think they would really like what's coming out of Tennessee right now.

You mention "Scotch" (personally I hate this term) and Bourbon but forget to mention Irish Whiskey. The Irish invented whiskey making and it was exported to Scotland, in my opinion a far superior drink is Irish whiskey. It is smoother thanks to triple distillation and lends itself more to cigar smoking.

Very refreshing episode, hope there is more. Just one thing, yes, if it doesn't have an age statement (distillers trying just to cheat money from you), it is chilled filtered and non natural color... yes it is dead to me

@@RS-686 If you blend two malts different age of SAME distillery, it is still a single malt not a blend. Then, if you mix a 12y malt with a very small fraction of and older malt say 14 to give an extra flavor, you can call it "Masters Edition" and charge a hefty premium well above de 12y versions price. This is only one of many examples. This also happens with blends, a good example was JW 15 years replaced for some time by the Green label no statement. Unfortunately distilleries resort to that when their stock of a particular age is low and they want to keep the sales volume, thus all those "specials"....

A fair point, but misplaced. Kirby is not presenting himself as an orator here, he’s getting mellow with companions while presenting fine whiskey.
