I have the sander. It gets a fair share of use and replacing the sanding discs for different grit is not difficult. You can buy the sand paper at most hardware stores. I like it and it has held up very well. I like that it is small and portable, and, can be used for any number of projects and hobbies. Thanks! Have a great weekend!

I purchased these right after the holidays. The quality and precision of these tools are excellent ! I mounted mine to 9x9x1 inch wooden squares for stability and ease of use. Al Collins makes a truly wonderful product and is a delightful man who loves modeling. Great recommendation !!!

What a splendid array of tools. Just the job for small items when you don't want to kick out lots of dust from power tools. The only tool I didn't see was a rip/cross saw for longer cuts. I imagine it's great for model shipbuilding etc.

I went to their website after seeing the images of these tools in your video at the May 6 exhibition. The slicer is very interesting for my needs and seems very robust. I appreciate the fact that you can change the cutting mat once everything is scratched. To be used for its specific purpose. Your video convinced me... Sold!!! ))))

Yes, these tools are very reliable. All parts are metal and perfectly fit - the design is very strong. But I was more surprised by the sender. It is just perfect))) Although the slicer will now make my life much easier! By the way, one of the two partners of this company designed the scroll saw Dewalt DW788, so I'm not surprised by the reliability of these Ultimation modeling tools...

@@OlhaBatchvarov I don't know if the manufacturer is Canadian but I already received my slicer after only 2 days. It is as I wanted, heavy, robust and efficient with extra cutting pads and blades. I recommend it too!!

Yes, this is a Canadian manufacturer. I have already tried this slicer on hardwood such as castello boxwood and pear. The result is impressive, even this wood that has the feature of stabbing, under this slicer blade has a perfect cut...

Really useful info as always I think a really popular video from you would be how you organise your workbench and tools. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who seems incapable of organising my workspace efficiently and it can get in the way of modelling when you can’t find anything! x

The only way to find everything is to empty the table at least once a week. I completely empty my table and put the tools in their places on the shelves. And so every time I have on the table only the tool that I need at each stage of work.

I had not heard of these tools before but the look awesome and incredibly accurate. I would be interested in seeing you use them in your builds. Your level of accuracy is already amazing I can only imagine what these will add.

Picking up a used precision bevel gauge would take both those tools to the next level. Watch E-Bay and you can usually get them pretty reasonably. Your mitered frames and the butt joints will thank you.

I was amazed at how accurate these tools are, but as people say "There is no limit to improvement" and you can use a precision bevel gauge for an even more perfect result!..

For the apartment this is exactly it, and for the workshop something electric and bigger. Maybe it's even better to choose a thickness planer (drum sander) instead of an electric sender!

Just a quick question Olha. I’ve seen you use both the Ultimation manual sander and cutter as well at the traxxon electric versions of the same. Your work is so precise I’m wondering if you prefer the manual to the electric or vice versa. If you were just starting out which would you prioritize? TIA!!

I do almost everything on a hand drive now. Electric is now only used for sanding bars when sawing sheets on a tablesaw...

You can fasten it to the table or just clamp it. And I like to move it around the model depending on which side I work from...

Es mucho ya veces tres veces más barato que una herramienta eléctrica. Si elige algo chino hecho de plástico, el resultado será el mismo. Por lo tanto, es mejor comprar una buena herramienta con consumibles disponibles una vez que una nueva cada año porque las falsificaciones de plástico chinas no se pueden reparar o tienen consumibles caros...

Nice looking tools but from what I have seen they have limited use when working with hardwoods. Overpriced when compared with similar tools from other sources.

I work on them boxwood, pear wood, black hornbeam, ebony and I am very happy with the result... Are there any harder woods? I have separate videos of these tools in use, you can find them in the "Necessary Tools" playlist...

⁠@@OlhaBatchvarov I use Maple, Oak & Hickory which have greater hardness than the woods which you refer to. A German company makes similar tools of similar size (about 200 x 200 x 210 mm) which work off a tiny mobile phone size transformer. They range in price from €95 to €130. Made in Germany and no Chinese trash!! Highly recommended.

I'm assuming looking at the cutter that the fall off side always needs to be cut again to be usable? In other words it produces a straight cut only on one side of the blade?

Yes, because it depends on the shape of the blade, which makes only one side perfectly 90 degrees...

What is the thickest hardwood you can cut with the slicer?

So far, I was able to use it to cut pear and boxwood with a thickness of only 1,0-1,5 mm - the cutter coped with this thickness without problems...

What is the maximum cutting capacity in mm of the slicer when cutting Pear? Are the blade’s available only through Ultimation?

These are standard utility knife blades but expensive (heavy duty). I did not have to cut very thick strips of pear, but it is soft compared to boxwood... The thickest that I cut without problems was a 7x7mm walnut... About a month ago, I published a video about this slicer and its capabilities...

This are good Tools- but very expensive. Why you don`t use Proxxon (Tellerschleifgerät »TG 125/E«, 140 W, Elektro), you have to pay 149 € for it. And it is with an electrical engine. Good luck for your projects and your videos. I like to watch all! Greetings from Germany!

I have a proxon, but it still needs a vacuum cleaner, so this tool is only suitable for the workshop. And most modelers have only a table in their apartment and the issue of dust becomes very important! And by the way, accuracy is not about the proxxon, so it loses on several levels. By the way, I want to make a video comparing two senders!

@@OlhaBatchvarov OK, I´ve a workshop and I can regulate the drive and I have a master/slave switch for the dust-cleaner. Of course, if you have only a table it is better to make it with handcraft. Sorry I forgot this... Have a nice day and thank you for your answer!

Of course this video comes out a week after I splurge on a micro mark table saw. I feel like these two machines are 90 percent of the work. I have a very crappy version of that slicer from artesania latina, which is more frustrating than useful. It's a toy. This tool seems like the real deal. I only wish it had the ability to tilt for compound miters!

Good purchase! Sander will definitely be needed to refine the details after the table saw. As for the slicer - I'm currently testing it on hardwood...

@@OlhaBatchvarov thanks! I already have a belt/disc sander, but it's obviously not portable, quiet, or as versatile as this for small work. That slicer though... I'll wait for you report on hard wood

it seems like with the sander you'll only use a small narrow track of the disc's total surface which in time will get very used and the rest will remain untouched. not very efficient...

That's why you can move the table as a slider. I forgot to show it in the video, but if you pay attention, the aluminum part of the table is moved to the video several times. One nut from below fixes a table.

Hi, mich fasziniert deine arbeit seit laangem schon sehr und habe in meiner jugend schon einziges an rc gebaut auch ohne bausetze.. Jetz reizt mich der bau der santa maria pinta und nina aber ich bekomme keine bau plane for free haha, hattestvdu eine ide wo ich die finden könnte, würde dir auch meine mail senden.. And these are the type of tools that are worth every cent. You just take them out of the box and you can start working right away. You do not need to improve them or adapt them to the needs of shipmodeling, which is sometimes worth twice the cost of the tools themselves...

Besides, for the vast majority of the viewers, we're talking about an hobby (already a very expensive one), not a professional activity. By the way, have you purchased these tools?

Die Lebensmittelpreise haben Sie hier nicht gesehen, daher ist auf dieser Seite der Welt alles viel teurer. Ich war schockiert, als ich in die Staaten zog. Zu Hause kaufte ich früher ein Stück Birnbaumholz für 2 Dollar, aber hier kostet ein Block der gleichen Größe 44 Dollar. Seien Sie also nicht überrascht! Aber diese Tools sind jeden Cent wert!

When you try to work with them, you will understand why! I've also had Chinese junk and branded similar tools - so I can definitely tell you that these are worth every cent!
