With Tokyo under siege from rising monster attacks, baseball star Ken Sato reluctantly returns home to take on the mantle of #Ultraman. But the titanic superhero meets his match when he reluctantly adopts a 35-foot-tall, fire-breathing baby kaiju. Sato must rise above his ego to balance work and parenthood while protecting the baby from forces bent on exploiting her for their own dark plans.
ULTRAMAN: RISING debuts June 14, only on Netflix.
In partnership with Netflix, Tsuburaya Productions, and Industrial Light & Magic, Ultraman: Rising is written by Shannon Tindle and Marc Haimes, directed by Shannon Tindle, and co-directed by John Aoshima. ULTRAMAN original song by Diplo and Oliver Tree.
Based on characters by Eiji Tsuburaya, a creative mind behind #Godzilla.

Ultraman has been around since 1966, if you know of Godzilla, you know of Ultraman. As well as Gamera. Especially during the 70s. In all truth, a lot of things happened to not have such a wide spread. But overall many people know of Ultraman. But he is just more popular in Asia.Just cause he may go Global doesn't mean he will grow more popular. Many people that have grow up watching him. Will be the ones actually watching the content. Far more than the rest.

It's already global, the official channel for Ultraman even releases new Ultraman episodes in multi language subtitles and it has a Blu Ray for every Ultraman series up to Ultraman R/B but also they are planning to make more new Blu rays for the shows after R/B so clearly it's reached quite a global audience.

Ultraman is an organism itself, their planet was ruined by a corrupt traitor ultraman. For some reason the kaiju is attracted to earth and the ultraman sends group its members to earth in order to befriend humanity. Thus solidify the relations between human and ultraman. Human have much potential thus a suitable host to be part of. Ultraman is a popular superhero in Japan and really gets slept on by people. It’s nice ultraman has still revelance

Not a fan of the baby Kaijuu tho. I thought it's a bit generic aquatic monster-looking compared to Ultraman's more peculiar designs (Like Red King with it's Accordion-like body, Gomora with it's bull-like feature or whatever the hell Eleking is) It's still a good and cute design. Just wished we could have get something more unique haha (something like maybe something like Ragon)

Im very sold, Ultraman as a concept was made for this sort of heartfelt storytelling, the Ultras embody the saying of being strong enough to be gentle. And its also a great commitment to have one put in the work to raise an orphaned kaiju. You kinda can't do that with the classic monster of the week storytelling.

The series did their best, with most of them dedicating an episode or two to a kaiju that was harmless or misunderstood. But yeah, it's hard to really drive home the commitment it takes to stay peaceful and only fight as a last resort when every single episode needs to have a fight with a giant thing. But it's a side of the franchise that was always there, and it's really nice to be able to devote a whole movie to it.

Pretty sure the closest an Ultras been commited to a proactive role in raising kids is Ultraman 80 and they couldnt as a series do that cause ratings and concerns from parents and government stopped em from going deep into that angle so 80 had to leave and be a monster fighter like all other ultras. But boy the Mebius episode where he came to earth and saw his students again still remembering him even in Ultra form kills me.

I think a lot of people would expect more of a general run-down of the Ultraman concept. Instead, it’s an alternate universe where the defense team is corrupt plus what feels like a mid-season episode plot of someone having to take care of a baby kaiju (it totally could have happened on Taro. Or Cosmos). But the aesthetic details feel more on-point than the last Netflix Ultraman thing. I hear this movie actually started as a non-Ultraman project called “Made in Japan”.

Itd actually be sick if they made some sort of rod puppet like the Colossal Titan from the live action AOT movies cuz i dont think they have the CG budget to make him look good alongside the other ultras. @@nickthehatmansmoviehouse2538 The thinner build reinforces the idea of him being alien. However, they might just see that as stylization and have him be played by a regularly-proportioned man in a suit. But then he'd look a lot like the first Ultraman. Which would be tough, but I see why he looks so similar in markings and coloration for this production. Because the '66 Ultraman was the only version that had a big impact in the U.S.
